Weird, I didn't find any humour in this one at all. First miss for me in a good while.

Thought The Office reference was funny - this is the real quiz. Southgate as Finchy.
So too the Graham Taylor / Koemann call back (do I not like that docu), down to the trackie tops they wore then.
The Piers Moron one, the England song was brilliant.
I thought the only panel that was a bit hmmmm was the Spanish inquisition.

That was because you weren’t expecting it!

I get it all, there's just nothing that elevates it to a Squires cartoon for me. I think it's probably reflective of a generally staid week in the footballing world.

Ha, I was thinking that earlier. If it’s not Emo Mourinho in a mosh pit I’ll be seriously disappointed.

Obviously heavily Mourinho-based this week, but he does give us this version of the boss

https://www.theguardian.com/football/ng-interactive/2018/oct/23/david-squires-on-jose-mourinho-big-day-back-at-chelsea-manchester-united-football-cartoon

I do like his Sarri - never less than 5 cigs on the go.

In case you're wondering about Mourinho in the first panel: it's Bobby Gillespie

As well as being hilarious Squires is brilliant at getting the tone just right when necessary. His cartoon after the Manchester Arena bombing last year was similarly poignant and well judged.

Always wondered what he looked like. Nothing like what I imagined. Had him pegged more like a Ken Early figure  ;D

First time I've ever seen what he looks like as well, and despite knowing that he's older than me, I somehow expected him to look much younger.  Probably due to the references he gets in, and me refusing to accept that I'm as old as I am.

Either way, really nicely judged this week.

Project Longbow is the name of Man City's scheme to get around FFP. I assume 'Project Strongbow' is a made-up low-rent West Country version.

I can't find a story on it, but I'm sure Bristol Rovers were also caught selling short pints a while ago. That also ties into it.

That’s a shame! Haven’t watched it so didn’t know. Always a reason why something is included!

They also were in the news for having Babestation played through all their TVs in the hospitality suites too. :D

The Mou pushing de Gea over panel relates to an amazing video from this week where a little lad is playing Sunday league and not paying attention whatsoever, and the dad runs on to the pitch to push his lad over into the path of the ball to make the save. It's absolutely brilliant.
