Dreadful game of football. Origi and Sturridge not up to scratch at all.

TAA and Joe Gomez good though.
Cant disagree to be honest , thought TAA was our best player .

I would have loved to watch the match, but sadly I couldn't. What makes it even worse is that I've missed watching Lucas score live. Delighted for the lad...

There is absolutely no doubt after Sturridge being humiliated by Jurgen tonight that he will be off in the summer,in fact i wouldnt be surprised if he agitated for a move before the end of this window.

"Humiliated by Jurgen"?

Wtf? Sturridge was up against league 2 defenders and he was unable to create much against them. It really seems his pace has gone given how slow he's been in latching on to through balls he would have eaten up a couple of seasons ago.

Nevertheless, how was he humiliated? Sure it wasn't a great performance, but if he wants to start premier league games he has to show how good he is by scoring a couple and dominating a game against league 2 opposition. He's just not a great player in a 3-forward system and without his pace, he's become even worse at it.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Thank you Rush 82 for the commentary.
Love it when the young lads play. We've still got Grujic to come in as well.
One day we may have a decent referee, maybe.
Well done everyone and its good to see Gomez doing well.

BT comms were desperate for a giant killing and it wasnt forthcoming thankfully. Also foul on Karius but any excuse for them to make it out like he's shaky.. So close to watching games on mute.

Wilson and Ojo looked very good when they came on, great for Wilson to finally make his debut.

It was a foul but he should be catching that way above his head he wasn't barged into. He came and got on the end of two others and punched which was good to see and was out quick to tidy up.

He's a kid himself going through a patch of bad form, it happens to all strikers. Just needs to score a scrappy goal and he'll get a bit of confidence back.

I think he's over thinking it a bit. He always seems to be trying a bit too much. I know he's said that's a problem before

Woodburn just looked so natural in the centre, needs to be a bit more direct at times but a 17 year old isn't meant to be that composed in the middle.

Awful awful game, just glad we got through. We were pretty lucky, created fuck all in 180 plus minutes. Nothing gained from the these two ties other than we managed to rest some players.

nothing gained? You don't think giving games and experience to the likes of Woodburn, TAA, Ojo and Ejaria isn't a good thing, or giving minutes to Joe Gomez and more game time to Karius?

Plenty gained, despite being poor games.

And Lucas gained a goal too  :D

Got stupidly worried at one point that if they got an equaliser we'd already taken Studge and Couts off if it went to pens.  ;D

Ah well, we've had better results but a wins a win.  Not like smashing them 8 nil would help our GD and we still got further than the Bitters.

Fuck off Plymouth and good night.

Don't know why but this tickled me.

Fair play to them, they gave their all but didn't really trouble us though we should have played better tonight. Don't know how much analysis anyone can take from the game, personally it's very little. We were always on a hiding to nothing anyway. We're through, that's the only thing that matters.

Well that and the fact that Lucas scored a goal. Blimey.

Add to that he was shunted all around the park tonight. Think he will have gotten dizzy from all the positions he was asked to play. Beena bit of an awful patch for him but he'll come right.

Totally agree, just doesn't look interested in sprinting. Pre injury Sturridge would be in our first eleven but he's  is a shadow of that player, very sad really.

Sturridge is too.....shall we say......single minded to ever fit into a Klopp team. I'm starting to wonder if Origi might be heading the same way.
You think Divock is becoming Origiami .....he folded like paper with that penalty.

It's been disjointed due to the fulcrum and heartbeat of the side been missing for 6/7 weeks and now Mane gone off to Africa.

Phil looked better tonight than Sunday but is still obviously rusty.

Fingers crossed we can get that fluidity up and running again starting against Swansea !

Just curious, were the home support booing YNWA at the 26th? Thought that was odd if they were, considering the context of it.

Pretty mundane that, but a win is win and we march on. TAA was good, Woodburn neat and tidy but still very raw, Origi and Sturridge going through the motions, Stewart just a nothing player, Ojo done well as did young Wilson when they came on, better 2nd half from Gomez too. Glad Coutinho got some minutes which apart from the win was the biggest bonus.

Thought we did OK. Alexander-Arnold our best player, hes such a clever player. Knows exactly where the danger is and is neat on the ball. Incredible talent we have got there. Lucas and Gomez were very good against some big fellas. Moreno and Woodburn both had indifferent first halves but much better second halves, thought Woodburn picked up some great positions after half time. Stewart massively frustrating,  he looks a tidy player but he is just so slow in possession. Origi the less said the better.
