Let's face it, we're all children at heart and we all rather wish we could go back in time to simpler days when waking up at 6am on weekend mornings to watch ALL the cartoons was the only thing on our minds. Well, that and what's for dinner.

Part nostalgia, part draft. Each of us will pick:

4 x kid's animated/puppet/stop-motion/cartoon shows.
1 x wildcard human acted kid's TV show.

The winner will be decided based on who creates the most unmissable TV channel!

No R rated, adult or more grown up shows like The Simpsons, South Park, Ren & Stimpy, Rick & Morty etc.
No films or shorts like Wallace & Gromit.

If there are humans AND puppets in a show then this will count as a human show.

It's a tricky one. There were definitely a couple of animes I was weighing up picking, but allowing them could lead to carnage. Having said that, there's one anime (that doesn't even feel like real anime) that would definitely upset a few if blocked!

What is the exact definition of anime? Is it simply Japanese animation?

I can think of a few that go into the grey area here due to where they were made.

Actually, there's one show that could fall under the anime category and I'd be really bummed if I couldn't pick from it. Pokemon should be banned though.

I bet it's the same one I want to pick! Perhaps a maximum of one anime per team? And not fucking obscure anime or films like Ghost in the Shell.

I'm guessing it's because it's a zillion times more popular/well known than pretty much any kids show ever. It would be like picking Maradona in a Division 2 draft.

Saying that, I don't actually mind it being available. I think it's like Marmite on RAWK anyway.

Okay, we can't just ban Pokemon for no real reason. It's either no anime at all or it's all allowed.

I don't think we can ban anime. I think we can operate with the proviso that we can't pick anything from an R rated or in any way adult show - that way we can clearly eliminate the cartoons that are adult (i.e. has content that is not appropriate for children) without eliminating those cartoons that have sophisticated themes, characters, etc. Otherwise it will be a nightmare arguing what constitutes "adult" and what doesn't.

I don't want to name names, for a variety of reasons, but there are plenty of shows that we should be able to pick from that adults could watch without cringing, but are OK for kids too.

In any case, I think what time a cartoon was shown is a good indicator as to whether it is deemed adult or not. I know there's a lot of grey in there, but as an example things like The Simpsons, Ren & Stimpy, Futurama were always shown after 6 in the UK. It doesn't mean we rule out sophisticated shows, I'd just rather we focus on our childhoods and go proper nostalgic with this draft. I'm not going to put too much thought into the shows I choose anyway, just going to pick all my old favourites.
