People are being a bit harsh on Markovic. He's probably not quite Liverpool level and I suspect he'll be moved on - that doesn't mean he's a bad player, surely we set the bar for playing here higher than that? He'll end up midtable somewhere, maybe higher up back in Portugal.

I think some people think they are much more common than they actually are.

The reason for this is probably that the early Football Manager games seemed to be full of player swaps, but now the programmers have made most of the games much more realistic and there are very few player exchanges.

But this makes some people think it happens quite a lot.

That and the fact that the summer speculation in the papers every year is always full of intriguing swap deals. They never actually happen, but people slurp them up.

There's a player in there. He never played particularly badly for us, despite having a lot going against him, but it feels like he would be better off with a fresh start somewhere else.

For the sake of his career he should move on. Let's face it, he'll never be a starter here and if he doesn't take the few chances he's likely to get (like in a league cup game or FA etc) then people will get all over his back so it's no use really.

Watching him at Benfica, a lot of his best work was central.  Looks lost out wide for us.

If he works hard enough he might yet have the quality to play league games for us. He's never played under Klopp and might benefit from the system.

I'd be amazed if it happens, but just imagine if we lost about 5 forwards and Marko came in and started to replicate some of that Benfica form, that would be a redemption and a half. There's definitely some ability in there somewhere, but it seems like it's locked away in a very hard to reach place.

As an aside, just looking at that squad list and it's nice to see Lloyd Jones' name there. Shortage of centre backs? Pffft.

yeah, there should be some games where he'll get to play and, who knows, maybe he'll show some massive improvement being able to train under Klopp for the season.

He only really runs in straight lines.

But I don't think his dribbling is his strength.  I think his passing is his best attribute.

I don't think we do. How long has Ward been here? Jones too, possibly. So them maybe, but otherwise yeah, I think it's just Flanno. I think TAA and Gomez both count as u21 club-trained players so don't need to be registered, something like that. Woodburn, too.

It'll be interesting to see who we can include. I'd be surprised if Markovic or Bogdan get in. Possible doubts about Grujic and Ings too. I may be completely wrong though, I'm not 100% sure about either the rules or who apart from Flanno can count as club-trained and are over 21. I guess we'll be seeing soon.

a bit surprised Rafa didn't come in for him on loan as Newcastle need a winger (along with a goalie, fullback and forward) - and Markovic could probably benefit from playing some footy.

I honestly believe markovic will benefit from klopps system. He is very fast, and he works hard and presses well off the ball. If he gets a chance, he will surprise a lot of.people.He never really.got a chance here as when klopp came in, he was on loan and by the summer, klopp would have had his own ideas for players So he never got hos chance. He was great for benfica before we got him so he has performed at a good standard before. Let's hope he can do it again if he gets the chance.

did you see him prancing round in preseason against tranmere. He has ability but their is no application or intensity to his game. He done well on loan at Hull and i would imagine there is interest at home and abroad but he is on decent wages and he might be comfortable just sitting on is fat contract. It sounds a bit unfair but i feel he is in danger of becoming the next Enrique and just playing out the rest of is contract. If Klopp cant motivate him to apply himself and show some real commitment who can? He has obvious ability but that's not enough for Klopp. I also agree about is passing ability and link up play, i think its the best part of is game almost effortless at times. If he showed some real hunger added to is ability he would be a genuine option in our squad rather than only being here because we cant get rid.

We just signed 2 midfielders in Keita and O-C. It would be quite a resurrection to see him displace one of our midfielders from what I have seen of him. I hate to write off a player, but I have seen nothing from him to indicate that he is a Klopp type player in terms of skill-set or in terms of desire.


That the Portuguese window has 3 weeks left to run is one of the reasons he hasn't moved yet.
