There is just so much in this piece that has shocked me, I honestly wouldn't know where to start. One of the best pieces on Hillsborough I've ever read. I feel so proud to be a Scouser, but equally ashamed that I live in a rotten Britain, where the establishment and the authorities have never been questioned. Until now, thanks to the bravery and sheer tenacity of those who lost their worlds on that day. And it came from the very top: that paragraph about how Douglas Hurd was ready to ask the chief of police to resign, only for that scumbag Thatcher to throw it out, was truly, truly shocking. Wonderful writing, thank you for sharing what is clearly harrowing to recall.
