Merging .wmv files into one video....
« on: April 8, 2016, 01:31:06 pm »
I have a work need, to stitch two videos together, featuring some vehicle technology - would be good to have them as one video so people can click once to see a "with" and "without" example.

Anyone clever enough to do this for me?? Pwetty pwease?

Haven't used it for a few years and not got it currently on this machine, but Virtualdub (freeware) should do that.

Check here

There's likely lots of other software around that will also do it.

Edit: Argh, just seen it's wmv files you want to merge so not sure it will work.

Edit: it appears it will but you might need to install an appropriate plugin see here for discussion

Probably a bit easier:

Download and install Freemake Video Converter

1. Add files

2. Select the ones you want to join

3. Press the join files selector

4. Press "to mkv"

5. Select where you want to save it to and press convert

Edit: you can also use Handbrake on Windows, or ffmpeg on Linux which is what I normally use, but they are a bit more complex.

Cheers chaps - now successfully merged the two .wmv files - although the soundtrack was killed - so I first converted them to .mov files and THEN merged them, soundtrack intact. Voilą! Cheers again.

It seems that the installer now asks if you also want to install AVG (anti virus scanner), simply click no. Hate the way more programs seem to be doing this these days.

Not with the current exe.
I installed it, as i wanted to have a play around with it, then used adw cleaner to remove 5 files it had installed, so its not an "optional" feature at all

Didn't you get a notification during the installation process to also install AVG (which you can decline)? Or did you decline it and still had to deal with those files?

It happens quite often now that "free programs" ask you to install extra features that have nothing to do with the program that you are installing, such as toolbars or setting your default homepage to certain sites. It sucks.

Not at all, even installed via "custom install" to make sue there was nothing extra added.
