loving the shouts to replace Origi with him :lmao  I’m presuming they are just tongue in cheek!

Origi may not be anyone’s favourite, or indeed the managers, but he’s a significantly better player than Awoniyi.

He’s had a better season in Germany than Origi did with Wolfsburg. He would be behind Jota Firmino and Minamino, Origi barely gets a game here as it is.

Origi’s best work for Liverpool came after his loan at Wolfsburg though, so not sure it means much.  He had a tough time at Wolfsburg for a multitude of reasons, the club was a bit of a mess back in that season.

I’m not a big fan of Origi’s,  but will always appreciated what he did here the last couple years of course, can’t imagine for a second Awoniyi replacating some of the performances he put in! A nice little patch of form at Union isn’t making me think any different. Hope he’s found himself a team and a spot to settle in, as it won’t be here.

Hi guys, no loan updates?

Harry Wilson scored for Cardiff, so 4 goals & 7 assists in 24 Championship games for him, Ojo has 5 goals & 6 assists in 29 also for Cardiff.

Harvey Elliott should be in action tomorrow for Blackburn, 4goals & 8 assists in 24 so far this season.

Elliot has done well but Wilson also put up good numbers in lower divisions so we have to always temper our expectation.

The eye test tells you he's something special.

He needs to keep developing of course, but if he has the drive to do so then he'll make it as a top flight PL player easily. Just how far he can go remains to be seen.

Bit of a difference in their age when they did that. Elliott has also shown way more to his game than Wilson did.

I'm not sure I've seen a Liverpool player post-Suarez score a better goal than the thwonker Wilson scored a couple of seasons ago (against Swansea?).

Oh don't get me wrong Wilson can strike a ball exceptionally well, and he can do some great stuff from time to time. I think he'll end up having a decent career somewhere.

However his overall game has never been top level. I actually think he's improved it somewhat but it's not near the level we need. Elliot certainly looks like he has a much more rounded game, even at his age, and it even looks to have improved since the start of his loan.

Very solid performance from Van den Berg tonight, even though he was playing out of position. Cardiff in the play-off places. It would be nice if they get promoted, and sign Wilson on a permanent deal. With 4 goals and 9 assists, he's been one of their top players ...

Karius with another start today in a 1-1 draw vs Hoffenheim. A lot of good, a little bit of bad.

Hoffenheim dominated, and Karius more than played his part is saving Union a point, including a good late save.

He was VERY quick off his line to challenge shooters, which was either a good thing or a bad thing - depending on your view of goalkeeping  ;D The 3 times he did it - it did force the shots high or wide, so I guess you can say it worked out.

The goal he concded was a lot down to confusion in the defence and lack of communication. Whipped in cross to a dangerous area, that he got a hand to and it’d gone to saftely, but for his own defender steaming in and colliding with him and the forward, and in the process deflecting the clearance into the net. I guess you could say he should have been more physical and cleared the lot of them out.

Seen some reports that Porto aren't interested in making a permanent move for Grujic.

To be honest I think it's time we let him go. He reminds me a bit of Lazar Markovic in that we sent him on loan all over the place and he never really impressed anywhere. I suspect Grujic will be playing at Red Star/Partizan Belgrade sooner rather than later.

I think they’ve been trying  :P

I mentioned a couple miss-steps our very wonderful recruitment team and manager have made the last couple seasons, not selling 1 or 2 squad players when they where at their most valuable. I know it’s tough to plan ahead in such matters, and of course no one knew a pandemic would hit! but with the wonderful thing called hindsight, selling Grujic after his first loan season at Hertha would have been a great move. Since then it’s been a struggle. He wasn’t anywhere near as good in his 2nd season there, and he’s struggling for starts at Porto.

What is this based on? Can only assume you’ve seen his number of minutes at Porto and used it to cover all his loans as he was brilliant in Germany.

Those at Hertha reflected this in glowing reviews on numerous occasions..

Pal Dardai... "I've been at Hertha for 22 years," said the 42-year-old at his press conference after the Frankfurt win. "This isn't meant as an insult to anyone else, but Marko is by far the best midfielder I've seen in my time at the club."

"I was a defensive midfielder and managed to score 17 goals, which isn't bad," Dardai continued. "But Marko carries much more of a goal threat, he's got a sensational shot on him and is much better than I was [...] He can play anywhere in midfield.

"He's got so much potential, and you can see that out on the pitch. He's so robust in the middle of the park, but he can still play. He's good in the air, he wins tackles and has got such a strong desire to win. I can only say: 'respect'. And he's not even fully fit. Just imagine what he'll be like when he is!"

And

Sportind Director Michael Preetz: “Of course, we are in talks with Liverpool. Last summer, a door opened. Jürgen Klopp signalled to me that they were ready to loan Marko for another year.
"Now they want him back and he should complete the [pre-season] preparation there. I cannot say today what will happen. But Marko is a player we will always think about here at Hertha."

/

Grujic may not make it here but he’s above Red Star or Partizan level which is clear if you watch him play. It seems a lazy comparison to Markovic

If Hertha don't take Guendouzi, I think they'll cast their eyes back to Grujic. Guendouzi has been rather decent for them though.
