Important that Chelsea didn't gain any momentum today as they have a relatively easy run of fixtures coming up (all par 3's):

Bournemouth H
Leicester A
Watford H
Sunderland H

In terms of the APLT it's not a bad result but something the APLT doesn't address is the affect on the belief of the Chelsea players. Going into future matches knowing how far behind they are and also that they've failed to win yet another game is likely to hinder their future performances I would have thought.

Well let's hope so eh ;D

Very true. From a strict APLT perspective, they've hit par with that score, and if they continue to do so, they would almost certainly still be capable of finishing in a top 4 slot. -15 would have them ending the season on a very respectable 75 points. The vital thing for them today was not to lose.

They just don't look like going on that sort of run over the rest of the season, though, and their remaining Par 1 games, away to Man Utd, Palace, Arsenal, Southampton, Liverpool and Swansea aren't likely to bring back many of the dropped points. It's hard to see them improving at all, and if fact, it now looks like they would have to improve dramatically just to stay on -15.

Chelsea's top four hopes are really getting more and more theoretical as time goes on, and the next few games for them can't really help, even if they go on a run of four wins in the next four matches, they'd stil be on -15.

It's a blow to Tottenham, though. Dropping two points in Par 3 games at home is the reason they are racing for the top four rather than the title. They may be unbeaten at White Hart Lane, but Chelsea are the fourth side to come away from there with a point already, that's eight APLT points dropped at home in draws, and Spurs are on -11.
Fuck the Daily Mail.

Interesting that for all the movement on this, the gap between top four and bottom three appeared as early as week four.

It seems like the lack of a clear push for the title by any one team is causing the rest to slack a bit, I'm sure if Arsenal or City were in a great run of form the other top teams would improve to keep pace.

Still, that's good for us as it's an opportunity to gain some solid ground while the other teams struggle. Unfortunately it doesn't look like a lot of big teams will be facing each other throughout December so we'll have to make a solid habit out of beating the minnows now.

Next weeks fixtures:

City           -3  (Par 1 @ Stoke)
United        -4  (Par 3 vs West Ham)
Liverpool    -5  (Par 3 @ Newcastle)
Arsenal      -7  (Par 3 vs Sunderland)
Leicester    -7  (Par 1 @ Swansea)
Everton      -9  (Par 3 vs Palace)
West Ham -10  (Par 1 @ United)
Spurs        -11 (Par 1 @ West Brom)
Saints       -14  (Par 3 vs Villa)
Chelsea     -15  (Par 3 vs Bournemouth)

Most notably, City, Spurs, and Leicester have good opportunities to gain points with relatively easy Par 1's against Stoke, West Brom, and Swansea, respectively.

Top half pretenders like West Ham and Palace might finally see a distance open up between themselves and the top sides as they face United and Everton away from home in tricky but winnable Par 3's for the home sides.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Southampton, and Chelsea have the easiest fixtures on paper and should all expect to pick up 3 points against the league's bottom four sides.

Looks Ok to me, others have already put them at -7 as far as I can see. Also, we've gone under title winning forms many times in the previous season, just look at the APLT table between January and March last season until we played United as an example. We need to maintain this consistency for a good period of time to be considered 'true title winning form' IMO, and based on what we've seen in reality, we're far from it.
