Irish 2000 Guineas tomorrow evening. Expecting something to have improved passed Siskin. Won’t be betting yet but if I was I Might take a chance on Lope Y Fernandez at 5/1. Had some good runs at two other than the Middle Park and got the impression they expected more of him. Might want slower ground would be the worry. Also wouldn’t be 100% Siskin will stay.

Not sure if I'll bother with the 2000, looks a muddling race. Might be doing a big bet on Albigna on Saturday. I get the feeling she could be absolutely monstrous, the vibes could not be stronger.

All the best if you do. They both seem a little muddling to me. I think were I to have a go in the 1000, I’d probably be with So Wonderful. Still a maiden but ran some very good races at 2 and this should be her distance at 3.

Missed it. Have to check out a replay later. How would you compare to last weekends winner?
Good to see one that it stayed, as I had my doubts and that it has also trained on, although it doesn’t look to be the strongest field On paper

I think Kameko is the better horse, and without doubt last weekend's race was significantly stronger but Siskin has a serious change of gear in him. I was worried Keane had him trapped 2 furlongs out but he got a gap and stormed through it to put the race to bed in 100 yards or so. Vatican City is a nice one to take out of the race, only his 3rd run and the penny really dropped inside the final furlong.

Seen it now. They really tried to keep him pinned in there, but as you say as soon as he saw daylight, only one winner. Think Lope Y Fernandez might be better at 7, showed speed to get to the front but everything was finishing quicker than him. Vatican City by same combination as Gleneagles so would think a mile to 10f is his trip so be interesting to see if they stick to a mile for now or go the Derby route

Had a look at that race this morning, thought the front 3 in the market looked promising, but I was a bit disappointed with the other two, so even though she won well enough hard to know how good she is.

The more I think about Quadrilateral’s run last week the more I think it was the perfect Oaks prep. Might be my first bet of the season

She did beat a couple of useful animals there I think. Cabaletta beat Frankly Darling by a length on debut and she won nice at Newcastle and is 2/1 for the Ribbelsdale at Ascot on Tuesday. She doesn't have an official mark yet, but I'd say Cabaletta is at least a 90 rated filly and Franconia put her in her place by 4 lengths today. Chamade, finished 3rd today and last time out was pitched in against some useful animals at Kempton including Berlin Tango, Max Vega and Born With Pride and didn't get disgraced, albeit receiving 3lb that day. Considering this was only Franconia's second start I'm inclined to believe she's very useful indeed, but I wouldn't be racing to back her for The Oaks yet.

You make a good case, and I’m sure she will turn out to be decent, she’s in the right hands. I think Cabaletta definitely wants softer ground, her win was on heavy and her action and pedigree point to that. Didn’t realise she’s in the Ribblesdale, but presume she won’t run as that’s on Tuesday.

Ah, Gosden does love the ribblesdale if he thinks a filly isn’t right or ready for Epsom.

Anyone got a fancy for the first day of RA tomorrow?

Quite like a couple in the first, Kaeso and Glen Shiel but imagine I’ll just watch. Interesting to see how Mogul goes. Other than that nothing stands out. Bit underwhelming card for the first day which usually the best

Jubiloso and Mohaather for me. A slight leap of faith is needed for Jubiloso because her last 3 runs shouldn't really entitle her to be 3/1 in a Group 2 but Grimthorpe gave her a mention as one of Abdullah's best chances at Ascot and Stoute has his runners roaring. Mohaather because he's unexposed and had some very smart form before he was injured and missed most of last season. His comeback 5th in the QE2 reads reasonably well considering this is a poor Group 1 in my opinion.

Mohaather’s a good shout. The Queen Anne had a bit of a peak with Goldikova, Canford Cliffs & Frankel but it’s never been the strongest Grp 1 and it’s been getting worse.

I agree, Lord Glitters won it last year and as much as he's a solid Group race yardstick you'd never say he's really top class.

A lot of hope surrounding the aptly named Frankly Darling today. I'm not sure she beat much last time out but she was visually impressive and quickened nicely. I think she'll appreciate the step up in trip but she's skinny enough at 6/4.

Makes horse racing what it is. If Blue Point weren’t around he’d have 3 Ascot wins to his name and he’d be even more highly rated. Imagine his value if he wasn’t gelded. Be sat on a 9 figure asset.

Juan Elcano seems a decent price, 5th in the 2000 Guineas looks the best form on offer in the 1:50. Looking forward to seeing Japan, him aside not the best renewal.

Berlin Tango is interesting considering he beat Pyledriver LTO. Giving 4lb away will be difficult though. Huge Headman fan too, but he's got to find enough today considering he's in against some proven Group 1 performers and hasn't got the benefit of a pipe opener.

Looks another really poor day of Ascot racing to me though, these big field handicaps are just a minefield.

No bets for me today but will make a selection for each race.

1.15 Maydanny
1.50 Russian Emperor
2.25 Bright Melody
3.00 Japan
3.35 Afaak
4.10 Mighty Gurkha
4.40 Almania

I realise I'm late with the first one but that's who I would've went with  ;D

Impressive from the winner there. Japan disappointing, but seems like he might take time to get going at the start of a season. Hasn’t won its first race yet.

Yeah very true. He's back on the drift now anyway, not sure what he'll be like on the ground. Wouldn't mind him finishing down the field and reducing that handicap mark further  :D

These handicaps are impossible to decipher.

Just Fox Tal and Technician for me today. Neither have had a run which is a big negative but good horses and I'll chance them.
