Yeah, it was until he got a bit political near the end to muted applause and woos. Half of the audience are Republican....

What the fuck is this shit? I hate this woman, everything she stands for, anyone who likes her and anything she does.

A total phoney of the highest magnitude, I wouldn't be surprised if she is both miming and getting an extraneous amount of digital wankery.

I'm sorry, but they've cleverly polished a turd here.

I think Linklater will get best director with Birdman getting Best Picture unfortunately.

Loved Patricia Arquette's speech and win.  And Whiplash already getting 3 Oscars, hopefully 4 with screenplay cos it ain't getting picture.

No, of course not. This looks like its very important to him - obviously he has a connection to the film with its subject matter.

Big ones are next - I agree, Linklater will probably get best Director.

Didn't see the imitation game winning that.

With Birdman winning original screen play can see it sweeping the best film/director awards.

Ahhh yeah - bit gutted Keaton to be honest... Didn't really think Keaton would get it, but he'll get loads of mainstream work off the back of Birdman like.

Birdman gets best picture ! Haven't seen it but was it that good ?
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

I loved it. But then again I really liked all of the best movie nominees that I have seen (I've seen most). Was a good year.

Aye, I weren't particularly as enamoured with Whiplash as everyone was, but I guess I should give it a few more viewings.

Ahh well, back to a first quarter of shit films and box office flops.

Personally I thoroughly enjoyed it. Keaton was wonderful, as were Emma Stone and Edward Norton. It's a movie that is probably best watched in a cinema though. But yeah I think it's a worthy winner, although I haven't watched The Theory of Everything yet.

Gutted.  Birdman was decent by it was sixth form philosophy.  Boyhood was a work of art.  Even Whiplash deserved it more.

Haven't seen Birdman.

I thought the best movie of the year was The Theory of Everything, and was hoping it would win but I don't think it ever had a chance.

Just happy Boyhood didn't win picture, and I thought it wasn't even worthy of being nominated.

Some people saying Boyhood deserved it even more. Really?

Emotion always trumps philosophy.. and Boyhood in my opinion was a great achievement in film-making but it was too linear.
