I think Linklater will get best director with Birdman getting Best Picture unfortunately.

Loved Patricia Arquette's speech and win. And Whiplash already getting 3 Oscars, hopefully 4 with screenplay cos it ain't getting picture.

No, a lot of people in the Film thread disliked it.

Personally, I loved it on many viewings - Thought it was a fantastically well made film.

I loved it. But then again I really liked all of the best movie nominees that I have seen (I've seen most). Was a good year.

Aye, I weren't particularly as enamoured with Whiplash as everyone was, but I guess I should give it a few more viewings.

Personally I thoroughly enjoyed it. Keaton was wonderful, as were Emma Stone and Edward Norton. It's a movie that is probably best watched in a cinema though. But yeah I think it's a worthy winner, although I haven't watched The Theory of Everything yet.

Gutted. Birdman was decent by it was sixth form philosophy. Boyhood was a work of art. Even Whiplash deserved it more.

Haven't seen Birdman.

I thought the best movie of the year was The Theory of Everything, and was hoping it would win but I don't think it ever had a chance.

Just happy Boyhood didn't win picture, and I thought it wasn't even worthy of being nominated.

Emotion always trumps philosophy.. and Boyhood in my opinion was a great achievement in film-making but it was too linear.
