So it looks like the teams lined up something like this for the first training session on tour. Doesn't bode well for Sakho, Lucus and Markovic who look like they may be behind Lovern, Lucus and Ibe in the pecking order.

I wouldn't read anything into the training sessions at the moment to be honest. He'll take a look at various options in them over the course of pre-season.

That would have been my thinking too but there does seem to be a clear divide in the two teams and who the manager currently favours.

I don't get that it doesn't bode well for some. It's just confirming what we know, right? I mean we all expect Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino and Ibe to be ahead of Markovic all things being equal.

I'm sure everyone will get their chance in preseason. That said Brendan does play favourites and it usually takes injuries and his hand being forced to go against them.

Just got back from Malaysia (KL). Absolutely sweltering heat, can't think of anything worse than running round in it. Lots of hype for the reds arrival though which was cool to see

I wouldn't read to much into these lineups, as its only the first training session.

Consider also individual matchups that Brendan might want to see. For example, I'm sure Lucas might be the preferred DM option, but doesn't want Lucas-Henderson-Milner up against Allen-Rossiter-Teixeira, so puts Lucas in the "second string" to balance things out in midfield somewhat (perhaps the same with Lovren and Sakho switching places). There's a balance of experience/youth in each front 3 as well: Lambert/Lallana + 2 younger players. Markovic vs Clyne/Moreno would be a bigger and more suitable challenge for him than coming up against Gomez or Wisdom too.

When I was younger as a goalkeeper I was often pissed off at my coach for playing me in the second string side in training as we always got hammered, but that was until I found out he did that so I would get more practice than the other goalkeeper, who was often just a spectator. There's logic to this training session stuff!

This is overly analytical as its just the first session but my point is that its not worth drawing conclusions from this as there's a variety of reasons why the lineup looks as it does.

Interesting to see Teixeira playing in CM though, I thought he'd be looked at more in the front 3.

If I was Brendan I'd want to look at a Hendo/Milner partnership in conjunction with our attacking fullbacks. I'd want to sort Lovren out positionally too so I'd have Mignolet, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno, Clyne, Hendo and Milner on the same team. Beyond that I would be trying to make it competitive.

I subscribed to it so I could watch the Gerrard v Carra match, and cancelled it almost immediately after with no problems.

Signed up for LFCTV Go (online one), for £4.99 for the month it'll save me having to scramble to find a dodgy stream for each game. The stream is pretty impressive quality (and I've a shite internet connection) for once too - although could change when more come on for the game I guess.
