It being deadline day for the month in work, being trusted with important stuff needing sorting ASAP, and sorting it myself within an hour being called "very, very good" by the positive manager (there is a negative one who's never happy but he can do one)

Been a bit miserable in work lately but I came through bigtime today and it feels good

Happened at my place, Virgin Media down so not able to work until 12.30.

Getting a friend who's in assisted living a new TV off fb marketplace. He's a marines/ghurkas veteran but had a stroke a few years ago so doesn't go out much at all as a result so the TV is his life. His old set packed up 2 weeks ago, and he's been staring at the walls since... Great to see a smile on his face.

Same. We took the dog out in Sefton Park this Tuesday and could hear one of the little headbangers doing his stuff in the trees.

There were absolutely loads of Ring Necked Parakeets about too.  :)

Genuinely thought I was seeing things when I first saw the flock of parakeets flying low above the alley behind the house I used to live in, had no idea that they're actually pretty common in Berkshire these days. Don't seem to be any around where I live now though unfortunately.

It's odd really, but although they are not native birds I sort of take it for granted that I'll see loads of them when we go into the park. You tend to hear them before you see them because they screech a lot and are quite loud.

I was just reading a bit about their population in the UK and it's mostly in the south East of England, but flocks are also present in Liverpool, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Oxford and Manchester.

I almost got a lovely photo of one in the park on Tuesday. There is a small area where Robins, Blue Tits and Great Tits will take food off your hand. We were there feeding the birds and squirrels when a number of parakeets arrived and were feeding out of coconut shells full of seeds in a bush. I was so close to one and reached into my pocket for my camera but he flew off just before I could click the shutter.

Anyway, just seeing and feeding the wildlife really puts a smile on my face. Simple joys are often free, and often the best.  :)

I was just reading that the largest population was thought to have been in the South London suburbs where, until 2007, their main roost was in Esher Rugby Ground. Esher Rugby Club later names it's women's team 'The Parakeets' in their honour.  :)

The RSPB estimate there are 8,600 breeding pairs in the UK, while other scientific counts in 2012 have placed the number at around 32,000 birds.

Plenty of parakeets around where I live. Often see the swiping around in groups of 4 or 5. Always brightens up a dull winter day.

Having a walk down the prom from New Brighton to Seacombe yesterday afternoon, stopping for a quick pint at the Egremont Ferry, too early to see the aircraft carrier depart, so got the bus back from Seacombe, & had a few bevvies in my local before home, my local is now £2 a pint for some beers after the refurb. :)

Off to do the Merseyside challenge later, visit as many stations as possible in the saveaway area, in the given time.

Companies that phone you out of the blue and are diverse enough to employ young pleasant guys from India who are more than happy to let you know that your computer has a virus that needs to be made safe over the telephone and that they can help you do this.

They then explain how to download a program to fix this issue. All the time being kind and caring and calling you by your first name and asking if you've had a nice day.

And once I had downloaded the program, the chap was kind enough to help me enter my bank details and instruct me on how to pay the reduced fee of £200 for this service because I paid immediately today.

Now if only all people were like this then the world would be a nicer place to live.

 :wave

What do you mean this is in the wrong thread?

And no, I'm not being sarcastic - my computer has never been so quick!

Okay, it's full of pop-ups and adverts and my home page is now a porn site but it loads in really quickly so I can't complain.

And yes, it takes a little longer - 3 hours - to fully close down but my mind is at rest now because I've gotten rid of that rotten little virus.

Thank you Ramesh  :wave
