Barcelona will this week pay Liverpool the final instalment of Luis Suarez's 2014 transfer.

The Spanish champions will transfer a payment of £12.98million to the Anfield club, the fifth of its kind, to take the Uruguayan's total transfer fee to £65million.

Suarez has won La Liga in both of his seasons at the Nou Camp as well as two Copa del Rey titles, a Champions League, a UEFA Super Cup and a Club World Cup.

And along with Lionel Messi and Neymar he forms the 'MSN' - probably the most fearsome frontline ever assembled.

There was some controversy in March when Football Leaks revealed that the fee which took Suarez to Barcelona was £65m, as it was £10m short of his release clause.

There are things called "loyalty bonuses", "image rights" etc in most players' contracts. The transfers are almost never as straightforward as most people imagine them to be.

Strange if we let him leave for 10M less than the release clause. I think he's the best player I've seen in a LFC shirt. I know there's some serious competition for that, but I can't remember anyone as good and entertaining as Suarez at his best.

About the deal though, we got a lot of money. Every player has his price. I really don't have a problem with it, even if we got 'just' 65M. It was a good deal for everyone.

5 years from now when the next superstar is traded for 120 million, we'll look back at this and think that it's absolutely absurd and demand for FSG's collective heads...

My point is that retrospective re-evaluation players are often farcical when the current circumstances are not taken into account - an above average player now costs 20 - 30 million; they're worth around 10 - 20 million 5 years ago.

The committee had to buy according to rodgers philosophy though. They obviously failed to collaborate well enough to buy right. Somewhere down the road there was a lost in translation moment and you cant just blame it on one party.

You expected the bunch that were so bad at buy were good at selling?

To be fair the World Cup incident really hurt his value because it drove off Real. He would have been the first 100M player if they had got into a bidding war.

Were never going to get full value for him with only one bidder. Not that it matters, would have just bought more shit.

Once you get a rep as a selling club, it's hard to shake it and players expect to get their way. Torres, Mascherano, Alonso set the rep.
