I'm sure Aloysius Paulus Maria "Louis" van Gaal gave these 'senior' players a dossier explaining why his training methods are so awesome.

I heard it was strong too. Had to re-inforce the benches with girders, to take Wayne's weight.

ouis van Gaal has called the projected £58.8m committed by Manchester United to the signing of Anthony Martial “ridiculous”, with the valuation evidence of the “crazy world we are in”.

The United manager also said the 19-year-old had been bought in as a long-term prospect chiefly for the benefit of his eventual successor at Old Trafford, who he tipped to be Ryan Giggs.

Ogden in the Telegraph says there's trouble at t'mill

Louis van Gaal’s heavy-handed treatment of Brazilian defender Rafael da Silva and the prominence given to video analyst Max Reckers have added to the training ground concerns that have left senior Manchester United players exasperated by the manager’s methods.

United face Liverpool at Old Trafford on Saturday with Van Gaal facing accusations that his rigid approach has led to discontent within the dressing-room at the club.
But while the situation is understood to currently be one of early season tension and teething problems rather than squad mutiny, Van Gaal’s abrasive style of management has prompted senior figures within the squad, reportedly captain Wayne Rooney and vice-captain Michael Carrick, to urge the Dutchman to soften his approach and allow more freedom of expression on the pitch and at the club’s Carrington training ground.

Having previously insisted that his captain and vice-captain have ‘special privileges’ under his management, any concerns voiced by those figures would be regarded as within the players’ ‘privileges’ by Van Gaal.

The situations with Reckers and Rafael have exacerbated concerns among the players, however.
Reckers, the Dutch analyst appointed by Van Gaal to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of opponents and the performances of United’s players, has been given a central role by the manager in his backroom team.

But with several of the United squad schooled under Mr. Ferguson’s cavalier, attacking approach, and the Latin element of the team rooted in flair and expression, there is a growing sense among the players of an over-reliance on Reckers and his input.
Players have become frustrated by lengthy video sessions and tactical meetings and the increasing focus on formation and tactics rather than flair.
Frans Hoek, Van Gaal’s long-time goalkeeping coach, does not share the same strong working relationship with goalkeeper David de Gea that the Spaniard experienced with predecessors Eric Steel and Chris Woods, while Victor Valdes – exiled from the first-team by Van Gaal – is another who has found it difficult to work under Hoek and Van Gaal at Old Trafford.

While there is an acceptance that Van Gaal has a long-standing relationship with his coaching team, his hard-line approach to dealing with players, particularly those out of favour at the club, has angered several squad members.
And Van Gaal’s decision to continually overlook and then sell full-back Rafael to Lyon this summer was one which many players felt showed a lack of respect towards a popular and long-serving member of the squad.
Rafael did not participate on the club’s pre-season tour of the United States after being told he could leave by Van Gaal, although defender Jonny Evans, who was also told he could leave at the end of last season, did travel to the States in order to maintain his fitness.

There is also little affection towards Van Gaal from United’s Spanish contingent, but the manager is ready to offer De Gea the chance to reclaim his position in goal following the collapse of his move to Real Madrid last week.
But with Liverpool due at Old Trafford this weekend, any failure to produce a convincing performance against Brendan Rodgers’ team is likely to place even greater focus on Van Gaal’s methods.

He came in like a Reckers ball!

Obviously it's all good fun and maybe old scrotum face does have a very rigid approach to things. How much of this is down to footballers not wanting to embrace things like studying footage of themselves and opposition? It seems to be something that's done loads in rugby and cricket for example. Shouldn't it be part of the planning in football too or doe Van Gaal just go way overboard with it?

If thats true, and looking at Van Gaal's ability to make friends and influence people, there is no reason to think it isn't, I wonder who is breifing the press?

It would be easier if a player had recently been messed about by the club and refused (via late faxes or something) his dream move. if that was the case then guessing who was leaking this would be so much easier.

but alas these kind of things don't happen at 'the biggest club in the known universe' so we will have to blindly guess!!

Joking aside (i know this isn't the place for it) you would have thought that any team worth its salt would invest heavily in performance analysis of both itself and the opposition, surely the players there have experience of this practice at their previous clubs?

as for the bolded part is it possible to go overboard with it? In the game last season Mata's goals all came from a weakness they would have identified in our system, surely a direct result of the process above..

Strange one, we can only hope this disrest is a symptom of larger issues within the squad!

De Gea issue, Martial issue, losing to Swansea and a dressing room discontent like this would have resulted in United losing 7 games on the trot on FM. Too bad real world doesn't learn from FM. :(

pfft in FM their capacity would have been magically reduced to 9000 and some new unknown manager would have sold off the first team squad for pennies.  ;D ;D

What's this shite about mutiny on the manc ship?
Apparently, Rooney (captain) and Carrick (Vice captain) sneaked into Van Gaal's bedroom at night and one of the things they did was to threaten him to show their balls if he didn't allow them to do whatever they want in training. Something like that.

Basically United board wants to sign whoever they want without Van Gaal's input and the players want to do whatever they want in training and in games, rendering Van Gaal just to be there as a placeholder.

Got to laugh at the pro-Liverpool media attempt to cause a shitstorm, they've known about this 'mutiny' for weeks yet choose to expose it just before we play LFC. ::)

Sounds like Carrick and Rooney passed on the feelings of the squad regarding training which is well within their rights as Captain and VC, no problem with that.

I can't wait to give you a good hiding at the weekend and shove it up their arses. :)

He'd have got away with it too if Clive Tyldesley wasn't following Rooney around screaming his name whenever he got close to the bedroom.
