Favourite game/moment of the season so far
« on: April 24, 2014, 07:34:33 pm »
It's been an absolutely brilliant and a crazy season so far, so many great performances and moments. For me, although I loved the coutinho winner and went crazy, I kinda expected us to win that game as it's the sort of game we always rise to. For me the fulham game was the key moment, when I really believed we had a shot. The sort of game we have slipped up in for years, 1-0 down, 2-1 down, 2-2 in the dieing minutes and we seemed destined to drop points. Then riether made that stupid tackle, gerrard tucked it away and we stole 3 points from a game we didn't deserve to keep our winning run going. A special mention to Spurs away too, we hadn't won there in ages and I was pessimistic going in, then we absolutely destroyed them ;D

Flanagan against spurs for best moment. Just summed up the joy of achieving your dream of scoring for liverpool. Favourite match is still to come but so far i'd say arsenal at home.

Still love Sturridge's assist v Stoke away where he cuts inside and then somehow flicks the ball with the outside of his foot to Luis who bends it into the bottom corner - epitomised the supreme attacking football we have played this season.

I exploded into little sparkling, swirling, laughing bits of happiness when Flanno scored and they showed Kenny in the stands. Something was just right at that moment.

Yea, and for me too. Flannos goal just because it was his first, and you could see how much it meant to him and the team. and the arsenal game as i was there. and ive never seen anything like that before.

The arsenal game....

We had a pretty poor record against them,,,, and we were 4-0 up in 20minutes....

The season as a whole. I can't decide. It's like asking somebody their favourite Beatles song.

If I was pushed, I'd say the first 20 minutes against Arsenal at home. I literally had no idea what the fuck was going on.

The Flanno goal was fucking brilliant, and the celebration! The thrashing of Everton or United for favourite game.

My short list

*Gerrard's Fulham penalty and celebration
*Countinho's City goal which reversed the tide (and the celebrations)
*Mignolet's penalty save v Stoke and the other player's reaction
*Gerrards after game team talk against City
*Suarez's first half 'show off' hat trick v Norwich (Plus the other one later)

1- The Arsenal game

2- Suarez 4 goals against Nowich as it was just unreal

3- Flanno goal

4- Spuds/Everton/Utd wins

Edit : you can add Black Bull Nova's to my list as well, there's been so many I'm starting to forget them all, but under revision I'd have everything about the City game as my No.1

It didn't produce a goal but Suarez's shot that hit the post against Arsenal was fucking astonishing. Hard to pick best game, either the demolition of Arsenal or Everton.

Top 5, no particular order.

1. Mignolet penalty save v Stoke.. Needed the winning start and it felt like our luck changed with that.

2. Gerrard penalty v Fulham.. Just a massive goal, especially looking in hindsight.

3. Sturridge's 2nd against Everton, to make it 3-0. I just sensed an absolute rout at that stage and comfortably enjoyed one of the games I'm usually a bag of nerves for.

4. Arsenal 4-0 in those 20 minutes, that was mental. We were unplayable, if only that Suarez volley made it's way in off the post.

5. Coutinho's winner against City. Massive goal just at at the time when I thought the game was going to elude us.

I would probably go with Gerrard pen v Fulham. That moment was huge.

The 5-0 away at Spurs. That was what got me thinking - this shit is the real deal. Although, there are a number of other candidates.

The favourite moment was probably Gerrard's Fulham penalty or Mignolet's penalty save on the opening day of the season. It could have gone so differently had he not have saved that.

The first Spurs game is definitely up there. That was the one where it became clear something special was happening.

Best individual moment was the look of crazed joy on Gerrard's face when he scored against Everton at Anfield.

The season really is a gift like no other. The great guitarist John McLaughlin on something like one of the Indian crossover albums (Shakti?) quotes a Hindu saying "I have no need for that, I have no need for this, I am dancing at the feet of my lord, All is Bliss, All is Bliss".

There's been so many of late.

The Arsenal match was ridiculous, not even sure I was celebrating the 4th goal, just laughing.

The derby was a massive highlight. Nothing better than watching us beat Everton with all my red mates.

Fulham was a huge relief and probably the first time winning the league crossed my mind.

Coutinho against City was the biggest high so far and the utter relief at full time.

Watched United in the pub and the community spirit was boss. The whole pub laughing throughout the last 15 minutes.

As I say though, so many.

Like most others probably too many to list but this would be my top5:

1. Arsenal opening 20 minutes.
2. Spurs away.
3. Migs pen save v Stoke
4. Utd home & away
5. Gerrard pen at Fulham.

I think it is the finest bit of football I have ever seen. If only that monstrous Suarez volley would have hit the back of the net.

It was totally exhilarating.

Best game was Arsenal at home. 20 minutes from "he can't play Coutinho in midfield against this lot, we'll get swamped" to "It's four fucking nil!".

Best moment was after the Spurs game at Anfield when the players were applauding the fans and the whole ground let out that primal roar that said "It's on!".
