The fix it tool done the trick for me last time > http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971179

Also go into program files and I'd delete any outlook folders within the MS Office folder

Thanks but that's not helped.

My old settings are still there when I reinstall office 2010.

I'd try going to Control Panel > Mail

And then delete Data Files, E-mail Accounts and Profiles that should do the trick!

Which old settings are you referring to?

I installed it and something went wrong when I put my email account in.

Tried to delete it but for some reason I can't so tried an install and it keeps coming back the same.

I've added another account with the correct settings but still can't delete the older one.

delete the program, delete the Outlook folder in prog files if it's still there, delete outlook files in your local profile, run CCleaner and try again

It was all to do with the new account being a imap account.Sorted it by making a pop account and then I could delete the old one.Now stuck with a pop account but who cares...

Has anyone else encountered the annoying as fuck problem of being directed to your Microsoft account page when you login to your email?....its logs you in no problem ..but on said account page is everything but a link to your email....you can get to it eventually by opening another tab - typing hotmail or outlook into the URL bar and then hoping for the best with the search results ....but there must be an easier way,....if anyone knows what it is, could you please let me know cos its doing my fuckin swede in

cheers mate ....that appears to work ...but oddly - https://login.live.com ..doesn't - and takes you to the aforementioned account page?....only started happening a week or so ago...suspect it's something to do with Microsoft pushing MSN again

Just use the Windows live mail application on PC, so much easier. Especially if you have multiple Hotmail/Live e-mail accounts like myself.

I've never used anything other than hotmail.com. 100% of the time it takes me straight to my inbox.

Loading Hotmail onto Outlook 2010 / Win 10

I'm trying to install a hotmail account onto outlook 2010 using a win 10 laptop.

I've tried using the connector, this failed.

I've tried using recommended POP3 settings;
SMTP Server      Server for outgoing mail. Hotmail uses smtp.live.com
SMTP Port      Port for outgoing mail. The dafault Hotmail smtp port is 25.
SMTP Secure      Secure connection for SMTP server. Default is checked
Optional Hotmail pop3 setting, configure pop3
POP3 Server      Incoming mail Server for POP3, Hotmail uses pop3.live.com
POP3 Port      IP port for POP3 communication. The dafault Hotmail smtp port is 995.

This failed.

I tried using IMAP settings;

Enter your details into the Internet E-mail Settings screen as follows:
Your Name: [enter your name]
Your E-mail: [enter your email address]
For Account Type: option, choose IMAP
For Incoming mail server: field, type imap-mail.outlook.com
For Outgoing mail server: field, type smtp-mail.outlook.com
User Name: [enter your full email address ie. yourname@hotmail.com]
Password: [enter your email password] & leave the Remember password box checked
Leave Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) box un-checked (important!)
Leave Test account settings by clicking the Next button box checked (recommended)
Click the More Settings… button, then select the Outgoing Server tab
Check the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication box
Select the Use same settings as my incoming mail server option
Select the Advanced tab, then enter port details as follows:
Incoming server (IMAP): 993
Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL
Outgoing server (SMTP): 587
Use the following type of encrypted connection: TLS
Server Timeouts: 5 minutes

This recognised and green ticked the incoming server issues, however outgoing server did once again not sync.

Any suggestions?
