Call me negative all you want but I have a gut feeling that we're gonna take a drumming this Sunday.

Not really sure why but I'm going for a 4-1 victory to them. Really hope I'm wrong but I can see Rooney and Van Persie having a stormer.

Worried our defence won't be able to cope. Although it would take quite the performance to beat Mignolet 4 times.

You are negative. They barely dare leave their own penalty area at Anfield, wont be any different this time.

We should try to play a boring possession game for the majority of the game as they have problems whenever a team makes them chasing the ball for tool long. Make Rooney and RvP run and they´ll lose interest in the game.

They always looked pretty pathetic against a spanish side so we should try to outplay them with our passing game and make them putting in more effort than we do.
One thing does need to be said: in the post-Benitez era, there was media-led clamour (but also some politicking going on at the club) to make the club more English; the idea being that the club had lost the very essence of what it means to be ‘Liverpool’. Guillem Ballague 18/11/10

Our fitness programme isn't designed to get us to top fitness for the first few games, though. We're preparing for the Christmas period and after, so that we are fresher for longer. As long as we can close games out defensively or in attack, we'll be fine :)

thought I remembered you writing this at some point - good to have it confirmed.

That was reffed like he'd chosen a team to win before it had even kicked off. Hope that wasn't the case but it was one of the most biased displays I've ever witnessed. A real shame because we were fucking incredible that day aswell.

Very interesting stat from Rodgers today:  Utd (38) only have two league points more than #LFC (36), since we last played them…
Yeah- mentioned it yesterday. Since we played them:

Utd: 11 wins
Liverpool: 10 wins

Utd: 5 draws
Liverpool: 6 draws

Utd: 2 losses
Liverpool: 2 losses

Very tight- our form is encouraging. We still ought to do better though, but that will come. That's still very good form.

Got a good feeling about tomorrow, I think we'll frighten the fucking life out of Ferdinand and Vidic with our pace, personally id play Aspas, Coutinho and Sturridge as per the Stoke game and go at them from the first second.

3-1 Liverpool.

It's of course much easier when there is nothing riding on the games. If we needed to win away at Newcastle to get 4th would we have gone with the same attitude. It's a nice statistic but emotion and pressure play a massive part in the 2nd half of the season, and we have absolutely no pressure on us. Moreover every time we seemed to build momentum last season, every time we got within a few wins of 4th we bottled it and got turned over like 1-3 at home against a relegation side. I wouldn't get too carried away with those stats.

Funny how our form dropped so dramatically a couple of seasons ago after we lost at home to Arsenal and we finished the season with relegation form when we had nothing to play for in the league.

On the flip side then it's incredible man management from Rodgers getting the players up for these apparently meaningless games.

It does show progression but there is a massive difference in playing under pressure when you have to win and free wheeling.

Last season even within this good run we got ourselves in a 'what if' position a few times but fluffed our lines. I seem to recall thinking before the WBA game, if we win that and Swansea at home we will be in touch with 5th.

Similarly before the Soton game and Reading draw when a good run of wins 'could' have catapulted us up the table in the manner Arsenal did.

It's a good stat and a credit to the management team but end of season winning runs/losing runs don't count for much the next season for me. It's now that matters and 6 out of 6 is awesome. 9 out of 9 and we will have some real belief.

I understand your point and I'm not making much of the stat, but still- it's a stat- you can interpret it how you like.
We have coped well with the pressure of the opening 2 games, which shows a mental strength that has increased since we last met.

they will be the strongest test of the possession game we will have had for a while, although I would still play it. That also evens up the rest time between the two of us since our Monday and Tuesday game, with ours being like a Wednesday game with the extra time. We neutralize RvP, rest in possession, hopefully nick an early goal, and go at them hard in the last half hour.

Just hope our defence can cope with their attack, so really hoping Toure makes it.

I think we have the better midfield and our attack has the potential to rip their defence apart.

Hope the ref isn't too much in their favour, but I may bet on it not finishing 11-a-side.

Can't wait.

Brendan spoke well when this game is more than just a match of 11 versus 11 as over the years each city has looked at each other as its greatest competitor. They were chasing us for years hoping to put us in our place and today the shoe is on the other foot. In many ways that competitive edge pushes each of us to greater heights & No matter what formation we start or finish with the lads out there just need to remember

"A lot of football success is in the mind. You must believe you are the best and then make sure that you are. "

Tomorrow is such a massive opportunity to get that momentum that we never quite built up last season, 6 massively winnable games after United before we go to the Emirates, a big win tomorrow & I could see us with close to maximum points by Arsenal away. My prediction is 2-1 to the Red Men, because I can't imagine Van Persie won't get a chance (which he usually takes) but their defence won't be able to deal with the Sturridge Coutinho telepathy

In my opinion this match will come down to whichever side finishes their chances.

I actually wouldn't be surprised at all to have us create more and better chances than United, and it's been a few years since I would have said that, but it will still come down to who sticks them in the net and that's always a percentage thing more than a guaranteed outcome.

If their chances fall to van Persie, we'll be in for a tough afternoon.  If ours fall to Sturridge, with the form he's in currently, you'd back him to put them away.

Can't wait.  Nervous, because it will mean so much for our season and theirs, but still, I can't wait.

Very interesting stat from Rodgers today:
I was thinking he should have kept that stat until after the game whatever the outcome, it would be a better tool then win, lose or draw.
But also I'd rather be seen as the under-dogs against them, then we'll slowly dominate the game and come out victorious.

I only fear the ref and them trying to injury Coutinho.

In terms of pure football there is nothing to fear, we can beat them, there is no doubt about that.
One thing does need to be said: in the post-Benitez era, there was media-led clamour (but also some politicking going on at the club) to make the club more English; the idea being that the club had lost the very essence of what it means to be ‘Liverpool’. Guillem Ballague 18/11/10

I spent all week thinking this was today for some reason :( Absolutely buzzing, as usual, but scared of Van Persie.

A win would be so sweet.

I think we'll play sterile domination for most of the game, and Moyes will have them sitting deep and cautious as standard. This will be a question of breaking down a stubborn defence, as well as being able to defend when they start pushing for a goal.
