This belongs right up there with the "big four" (The Wire, Breaking Bad, Sopranos, Mad Men) as far as I'm concerned. I do think it's gone off track a couple of times during its run, but overall it's been incredible. Sad to see it go.

Spoiler
So what do you all think is going to end up happening with Stan's girlfriend? Her being a spy would be so stupidly obvious that it'd almost be the more shocking reveal for me.

Spoiler
Nah. She's a red herring.

Who do we think is making it out alive?  Certainly not Elizabeth. Get a feeling she'll take Stan out, and Paige will get caught up in the crossfire. Philip will get arrested and will serve life.
Mail Robot is the only one I'm convinced will survive. Probably Aderholt too.

Been an incredible season. It's left it all out on the line and now they're bringing it home.

Can we do a prediction version of Fuck/Marry/Kill, except it's Arrest/Deport/Kill?

Arrest Philip, Deport Oleg, Kill Elizabeth.
Arrest Paige, Deport Henry (he'll play hockey in Russia, he'll be fine), Kill Claudia
Arrest Pastor Tim's Wig, Deport Pastor Tim from Argentina, Kill Pastor Tim (except he'll be reborn as Dollar Bill on Billions).

Noah Emmerich is doing outstanding work this season.

Spoiler
I thought it was awesome, and quite an appropriate farewell episode: despite all the espionage stuff, the heart of the show is the relationship between Philip and Elizabeth, after all.

The parking garage scene is one of the all-time great scenes. Absolutely riveting.

Six seasons of near perfect television. S5 might not have been great, but every other season has been impeccable. Right up there with the all-time great shows.

Agreed, Ray.

The parking garage was brilliant. And the fucking show even got me to feel sorry Paige in the end, I never thought that would happen.

And what a thing for Phillip to drop on Stan as the last thing he ever says to him! Correct or not, that seed with fester and probably end up ruining Stan's marriage.

I hope that Oleg didn't spend too long in prison. Hopefully only a few years until the soviet collapse. Or sooner, if his dad has a little influence with Gorbachev, despite Oleg not being KGB.

I do wonder about Phillip and Elizabeth. Would they have enough goodwill to get some protection, or will they end up getting the Nina treatment?

One thing that was strange was the number of montages! I think there were three in the episode.

Anyway, sad to see it go, it's been near perfect for me.

Can't wait.

What a wonderful episode and absolute fitting finale of the series.

Spoiler
The parking scene while it was great, I think the train one that followed had much bigger impact either due to its sheer quality or that it talked right into the sense of what the series is all about and the heartbreak. Plus the former had a large dose of inevitability from season 1. Still quality though of course.

Am gonna miss the characters.

PS: Love how they handled Renee's plot. People go crazy like they did with the Sopranos and the Russian (no pun).

Great finale with a very apt and perfect ending.

I second that on the car park scene, riveting scene.

Shame to see it finished, one of the great tv shows of  this century.

As Cptrios said above this has to be ranked with the very finest TV series with the final season peerless from its start right through to a finish which in all the aspects needed to attain such a status surely has to go down as simply perfection.

 :)

Matthew Rhys wins an Emmy for Best Actor in a drama series.  Or possibly Best Wigs Ever on TV.
The series finale also won Best Writing Emmy.

Keri Russell didn't win anything, but deserved at least a couple of awards for hottest publicity shots ever.

@RandBallsStu
Keri Russell never getting an Emmy for The Americans is like when Elizabeth had to keep killing people while Philip went line dancing and fucking up at the travel agency

Not usually that arsed about awards and such, but goodness me does Matthew Rhys ever deserve this recognition for his amazing performance, through all 6 seasons.

I absolutely loved The Americans, one of my favourite ever tv shows.

He's a fantastic actor. Shame Keri Russell didn't win too, but glad one of them finally did!

I still think about that scene in the pilot set to "Tusk" by Fleetwood Mac. That had me hooked and had me recommending this show to everybody for years. It was practically flawless.

Spoiler
I would love, adore a "10 years later" series showing how they all dealt with the USSR becoming Yeltsin's Russia.

I bet Philip opened a western franchise. That, or seized control of regional natural resources to grow an energy empire that eventually led to him owning the ice hockey team Henry plays for.

Finally watched the last season. Brilliant stuff. I will miss this show so much. How many shows can you say you don't want anything bad to happen toany of the main characters because they are all great? Philip, Elizabeth, Oleg and Stan were all superb.
