100 Players Who Shook The Kop Returns
« on: January 22, 2013, 09:06:51 am »
100 Players Who Shook The Kop – the groundbreaking series that had every Liverpool fan talking back in 2006 – is set to return this summer in association with Carlsberg, and you can get involved now by casting your vote.

More than 100,000 Liverpool fans voted in the original series six years ago and the list became the definitive rundown of our greatest ever players.

The poll is still quoted by the media and authors to this day, but how different will it look seven years on? Who will surprise everyone by sneaking into the top 100? And which of the current squad will make the list?

Kenny Dalglish beat Steven Gerrard to the number one spot last time but our current No.8 has lifted two trophies, had an FA Cup final named after him and won both PFA and FWA player of the year awards since fans last voted in early 2006.

We want you to select your top 10 in order now. You can vote for players from as far back as 1892 (our first skipper of note, Andrew Hannah) and there are details of all the contenders below.

You've got until the end of February to have your say before the list in revealed on Liverpoolfc.com and LFC TV day by day over the summer. You can also let us know your thoughts on who should feature where on Twitter with the hashtag #100pwstk.

Football without fans is nothing.

We've won 18 titles, 5 European Cups, 7 FA Cups, but today must be the greatest victory of all.

Where's Daniel Sturridge!!
Didi Hamann

In the corridors and changing rooms of Anfield I met many people - the great, the talented, the legendary.  I know that I only met one genius.  He was a small, smiling man with a neatly clipped beard.  His name was Rafael Benitez.

Where is big Andy!! That semi final goal alone should get him on that list.

Just put my list in, i've taken the subject literally and went for those players who've made the Kop feel like it's shaking and go absolutely off it's head

Am having to go part with what i have seen and partly reputation - never saw Keegan play but surely he has to be in the top 10, right?

I had Gerrard as number 1.
Manchester United could win fifty titles, but they will always be the Rolling Stones of football. Good, just not quite that band from Liverpool.

You should literally be skinned for such a fucking daft answer :o

How much change will there really be, I mean who in the last 7 years has done enough to reach the top ten. Are best players were Gerrard, Carragher, Alonso, Hyypia, Suarez, Reina and Torres.

Gerrard and Carragher were already in the top ten, and the rest although they were great didn't do enough to reach the top ten, apart from maybe one but he isn't going to be rated very highly for a very good reason.

We've only won one cup since the last vote, maybe two if the F.A Cup at the end of that season was after the vote. The real changes will be newer player coming in further down the list, players like Owen dropping massively and Titi Kamara probably won't be on the list anymore.  :(

Carra  Sami  Agger

Gerrard  Xabi

Suarez  Kenny  Barnes

Torres

I know mate, if had to pick tomorrow my answers would be totally different but bare in mind im 30 years old, so missed Souness's days as a player and only really remember his days as manager... which can cloud anyones judgement

I must have added and removed Hansen 2 or 3 times when I was picking my 10, but again my age means I didnt see much of him play and particularly with Sami, I cannot convey the amount of love I have for him. There is seriously nothing you can fault him for from his transfer fee, to his performances to the amount of goals he scored to way he conducted himself for the 10 years or so he was with us, it was impecible to a degree that very rarely comes about.

Has Suarez done enough to be on the list? If he sticks around for a few more seasons at his current form it cannot be argued but would say its too early yet.

I'd have preferred a list of 15 cause that's the number of absolutely must have players that are in my head.

I stuck Dietmar Hamann into my list of the usual suspects just because I've always thought he was utterly awesome.

Gerrard
Dalglish
Barnes
Beardsley
McManaman
Fowler
Hamann
Hansen
Hyypia
and the last one I forgot as my brain was arguing with itself and I've submitted it now. Probably Molby.

If I'd had another five options I'd have stuck in Suarez, Lucas, Alonso, Rush, Aldridge (or possibly Souness in his place).

Fair enough lad i'm a bit older so it's easier for me to pick Souness and Hansen , Sami was class for us no doubt about it
he's exactly what we need right now he could still probably do a job  ;D

Fair point mate i know he's only been here a short while but i cannot honestly think that i have seen much better in the
red shirt , every single game he does something that makes me jump up shouting " go on son " not many have done that for me !
