another shout for zidane vs brazil 2006.

gerrard has too many to mention. you'll never see a better 30 minute cameo than he had vs newcastle at home last season.

For me it's Zidane in 2006 against Brazil, as well as in 1998 vs Brazil as well! He hardly scores from headers and he got 2 against Brazil in the final of World Cup! Love that 1998 french team as well, which was truly a brilliant well rounded side.

After the group stages he was immense, rightly the best player of the tournament. A shame about what happened in the final.

Still remember this. Was fantastic.

I remember watching it and being absolutely mindblown. And then they scored and that fuck Tyldesley was like AWAY GOAL AWAY GOAL as if there was even another team in that game.
'Despite their  cup pedigree - since they've returned to the top flight in 1962 - Everton have, after today's results, once again gone further in the FA Cup than their much vaunted neighbours. For the record it's Everton 23 Liverpool 22  and 7 ties in 52 seasons'

Xabi Alonso 4-1 against united. Where I believe Redknapp said :

"Xabi Alonso was sensational spreading the ball to Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard that day."

Haha, shame he didn't even play though. ;D

Redondo is a great shout. Ronaldo took all the plaudits for that hat trick game but Redondo was mesmeric in that tie, especially the second leg.

Can't even imagine the glorifying that would occur for a player who did something like that today. A hat trick, world cup final, home ground. Couldn't write it.

Roy Keane. Turin. 1999.

Think it was a bit overrated by the media to be honest, especially after the suspension. But as we're on the subject, Keane vs Holland, Lansdowne Road, 2001. An absolute force of nature that day

Gonna throw something a little different into the mix;

Craig Bellamy
Liverpool vs Manchester City
25th January 2012
Anfield

Never have I seen one man run, spit, fight, bleed, torture and downright humiliate a back 6 like that before. He was immense. An absolute force of nature that night, the greatest performance in a red shirt I have ever seen (in the flesh that is). I was the perfect level of drunk for that match, and we were still figuring out how to deal with the Luis shape hole our team had found itself in. If I remember correctly, it stands to this day the only time he played Centre Forward for us during his second spell.

I had the scars for weeks after that match, and I wouldn't have swapped them for a million pounds cash and a blowjob from (insert lust object here).

Craig fucking Bellamy. Somebody wipe me dry.

he was actually shite that day, reason we were banging at the door for so long was because we knew he wouldnt come out and claim any crosses, we bombarded their box with crosses and corner after corner

We created chances from open play before we scored and Given really kept them in it. Fair point about the corners, we had a couple I think cleared off the line, another one where Lucas might scored and we scored two of ours from that. And yeah, he does have a strange fear of not coming off his line in general, he might have come out earlier for Gerrard's second.

For me, Carragher and Hyypia vs Juve in Turin, 2005, were amazing performances.
Ronaldo vs Manchester Utd another good shout.
And, as above, when Suarez tore Man Utd a new one in his first season, brilliant.

If we're talking midfield masterclasses away from home than Momo in the Nou Camp deserves a mention.

Have to say, as far as destructive midfield performances go that's one of the best I've seen.
Never gets mentioned enough in comparison to Arbeloa that night.

Xabi Alonso in the derby when Gerrard got sent off early.

That was one of my favourite alonso performances. He really took the game by the scruff of the neck. Gerrard has put in many man of the match performances in the past so you come to expect it from him.

Momo had a few as well - chelsea away one year, the nou camp and a few more here and there. Its great when one player puts in an almighty display. I also recall Benayoun having a couple of blinders as well.
