Being: Liverpool (Documentary on Fox and Channel 5)
« on: September 23, 2012, 08:26:18 pm »
Episode 2 just finished airing in the USA. Will be repeated at 9pm and midnight tonight on FSC.

Much better. More focus on the football than personalities. Although Carra opened the show with his opinions on training and gave a good account of it.

Some words of encouragement to Jonjo from Brendan.

Jose Enrique finds out he's going to be a dad and it's a boy.

A little more on Lucas and his comeback.

Some interviews with travelling Reds. And maybe this helps others understand the passion of supporters in the USA. That similarities of long travel to watch your team are shared.

Shows Brendan in the changing room and his talk before the two matches in Toronto and Boston. Good to see how he goes about things.

Back to Liverpool for episode 3.

If this needs to be merged with the other thread..no problem.

But to those who won't watch for whatever reason, your choice... but this thread is for those who did watch and want to chat about it... :wave

Episode one was enough for me. Not really interested in the passion of supporters in other parts of the world as I don't feel any connection to them. No offence intended to anyone just my opinion.

To all those who wish to watch the rest enjoy it.

Is this a one off or is there plans for a follow up season? It would make it alot more interesting to see another series when Brendan has found his feet and see how his philosophy has taken hold at the club after a year.

I didn't agree with the Brent comparisons last week, but I have to say the bit where Brendan calls Shelvey "the king of the golf course" was well Brentish.

Still far less to moan about though I think!

The team-talks etc seemed to make a lot more sense and be a lot less contrived, and Rodgers makes me feel like I'm back at school when he's telling the kids off! Seems to run a tight ship...

I am just glad we are going to see more Ian bossing it on the hog... In all seriousness, I think the show is just fine, we don't get exposure to the club and the players in the states the way you do in England so it's nice for us to see a bit more about the club. Can it be cheesey as hell? Absolutely. Do I GaF? No. I like seeing more about the team and players I love watching. Training is nice, and I always enjoy a glimpse into a managers world. To boot I quite like Brendan and we have been bossing games, I was telling a mate out here who is an Arsenal fan once we start scoring we'll be getting 5-6 a game, we have just been woefully short of luck, killer instinct, something, in front of goal. Once we turn that corner, these games will never be in doubt... Unless we also have to play the official like we did today.

Looking at the standard required, how hard it is to break into the Liverpool team, and the privelage that it seems to be to play for the club you really wonder at how we've had so much dross playing for us throught the years.

I found it strange that of the two episode so far, both have spent a large amount of time concentrating  on the "transition" of Flanagan/Spearing into first team players (with pep talks with Brendan, etc). Spearing was soon sent packing and Flanagan hasn't featured in a single game this season.

Wonder why they didn't pick somebody like Sterling to focus on.

How have they concentrated on Flanagan and Spearing? Spearing was only introduced this episode, and very briefly too. Flanagan more so, but I wouldn't go as far to say that a large amount of time has been spent on them.
