Argentina look class so far, they should really be putting performances in like this more often with the attack talent they have which is unmatched imo.

Its a shame that veron and Riquelme weren't younger as I reckon with that sort of midfield talent messi would be as prolific  as his club form.

They have enough creative talent in midfield. Pastore and Banega (injured) would be good in this regard. Banega had as many assists as Xavi in the 2010-2011 season I believe.

Sopcast link to the Argentina game sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/121476

Nice goal by Messi from a rapid counter attack makes it 3-0

Oops missed that. Thanks

Me too. With a bit of luck I'll get tickets for the game against Peru next week.

Argentina looked really good with Messi, Di Maria, Higuain and Agüero but their defence looked very shit at times.  They need to find some solid CBs

I'm loving these qualifiers... all the teams are very much tied and maybe Uruguay has a slight advantage but still, very very complicated.

Uruguayan team for Sunday's game against Peru: Muslera, Maxi Pereira, Coates, Godín, Cáceres, Pérez, Arévalo Ríos, Alvaro Pereira, Forlán, Cavani, Suárez. Depending on Peru's approach to the game, it will be a standard back four, or a line of three with Coates as libero behind Godín and Cáceres, with Maxi Pereira moving to the midfield.

Coming up: Venezuela vs Chile at 23:35.
Venezuela: Renny Vega; Rosales, Vizcarrondo, Amorebieta, Cíchero; Arango, Guerra, di Giorgi, Seijas; Miku, Salomón Rondón.
Chile: Bravo; Rojas, González, Contreras; Aránguiz, Vidal, Díaz, Mena, Fernández; Alexis Sánchez, Suazo.

No Gary Medel or Edu Vargas finally... I think Venezuela can win this.

Bah! shitty game!!!

Chile well deserved, tired us down and got two in the end, Venezuela's defense was all over the place in the last few minutes and the team was desperate for giving long balls up front but we definitely still don't have the quality to control that. Chile took advantage, opened the spaces and got two. Matias Fernandez is a cracking player.

Matias Fernandez is a cracking player.

THIS. Definitely MOTM, could have had another goal if it wasn't for Vega's fantastic save.

I was very impressed by Chile, who had lost their previous away games (4-1 and 4-0) and despite the discipline issues inside the group, it didn't seem to affect them this time and managed to win both of the away games for this round.

Chile now lead the table, and will continue to do so until next round no matter how the other countries do tomorrow:

Chile 12pts (+1)
Argentina 10pts (+7)
Uruguay 8pts (+6)
Venezuela 8pts (-2)
Colombia 7pts (+1)
Ecuador 6pts (-1)
Bolivia 4pts (-4)
Paraguay 4pts (-5)
Peru 3pts (-3)

But I do think Suarez touched it... it could have been given as an OG too, though.

It was Suarez goal finally, confirmed by Uruguay's NT Head of Communications. He has now 28 goals in 56 games for Uruguay, that is 1 goal every 2 games.
