Because if you blame the players or the manager you're a whopper, a ted, a wool, a jester-hat wearing fanny, or something.

Basically, in order to be awesome on RAWK, you really just need to like everything ever, or not have an opinion on anything at all. That's the only way. If you DO have an opinion then probably just keep it to yourself and be saved the stories about how support used to be and how much of a c*nt you are by older people.

;D

Your blinded by your bitterness. We were the flagship of the league, no one except us has been bothered by our 20 year drought. Saying they have to do well would imply that the league is fixed. Why do you watch if the league is fixed. No point it would be like going to a casino and thinking you can actually win.

Bitterness? Your fear and people's banding around of this word is purely based on evertoniabs and nothing else and we fear becoming like them.

Luck does play a part but it's not the be all and end all. If Gerrard's goal stood against Stoke and United didn't get that penalty against Spurs in 09 we would have won the league. Just a little bit more luck is all we needed. We didn't get it and United did.

What about if we didn't draw so many times we would have won the league?

The way to win the league is to put the ball in to the opposition net more times than they do. Not to hit the bar/post/keeper (see Liverpool) or gain a 'moral' victory (see Arsenal).

Utd are better at it than we are. Until we get better at it nothing will change.

When we win all our home games and a decent proportion of our aways and put away all those small teams that take the piss at Anfield these days and still don't win the league we might have an argument about the league being fixed. Until then, it's absolutely embarrassing to go on about it.

If the league is 'fixed, it's 'fixed in the sense that beating Utd has become a mental battle for the opponents as well as what goes on the pitch. We used to 'fix' it that way too.

We should look at our own performances, signings, leadership.

I don't think it's fixed, I do think it's influenced. There's a difference.

Well, influenced as in Utd having an advantage due to the power base / connections their manager has built up over the years, that I agree with. That is normal, you can find it in most workplaces, maybe Stein and Shankly also used their influence for their clubs in their day. It comes with success.

Influenced as in the league favouring Utd subtly weekly to maintain the sheen of the brand, that I find far-fetched. When something under our control, such as our strikers finishing better and wide players providing better penetration would have meant we would just be a few points off them now.

I like Roberto Martinez, but Wigan are utterly doomed at this point. His loyalty to Whelan cost him an opportunity to join Villa in the summer. Whelan hasn't invested the way he did under Bruce and its showing with a Championship standard squad. They are a third into the season, have only picked up six points, scored a mere two goals away from home and have dropped valuable points against fellow expected rivals for the drop: Blackburn, Fulham, Bolton, Wolves etc. Their only win was back in August against QPR.

What's this about?

Basically Blackburn's 2nd goal shouldn't have stood. Came from a corner where the corner taker (Pederson I think) played the corner to himself as the ref assumed someone else had kicked it first.

Compare that with the LFC goal (at home to Sunderland) where the Sunderland defender was deemed to have played the ball but claimed he was rolling it back a few inches (ready for his keeper who was 20-30 yards away, to actually take the kick).

The race for 4th is taking shape now, heading into December and we might even have 3rd to play for so two spots opening up for what is looking like 4 teams. Spurs currently being the ones ahead, could get 3 more points tomorrow and the game in hand against Everton IIRC. Won't be easy but looking like it will be extremely close.

I'm hoping Newcastle fall away, still can't tell right now, they're keeping their pace up for now. They've got United and Chelsea next so hopefully they drop 6 there, we've got City & Fulham so we should at least be looking to gain 3 points on them after the next two fixtures.

I'm actually shocked by that.

I was also surprised (if annoyed that he was trying to jinx it!) when Tyler said yesterday that we’d only conceded once from a set piece this season. That was against United but given how reliant on set pieces a few teams are in this league I thought that was quite impressive. Spurs aside, when it was only when we were down to 9 that we truly imploded we have been fairly solid all season. We haven’t kept as many clean sheets as we’d have liked, usually just the odd lapse per game which has proved costly, in fact I think that Spurs game is the only game we’ve conceded more than one.

Villa to collapse inside of 10 minutes tonight.

3-0 final score.

Spurs have an amazing run of games coming up. Playing Chelsea at home is the toughest game they have until the new year, so expect to see them up in third and challenging for 2nd, to be honest. Villa are fucking shite most of the time (when not playing us actually) and can't be relied on to bother half the time. I can see them getting turned over tonight quite comfortably.

Oh, and it's the return of good ol arry aswell. "Yay! Our tax cheat manager who's fucking off at the end of the season is back!"
I trust the King, but if we lose a few more on the trot now - he may have to step aside, and we have to purchase another manager in the middle of the season. If we are relegated, this could be the end of our ambitions to win any title the next 100 years.
