I watched this one at a bar in Oslo during the period when I had the great pleasure of being a temporary employee at the Scandinavian Supporters' Club's Kop Shop in the Norwegian capital.

This is the only match from the list that I was present at. The two young French lads played but not at the same time because Sinama-Pongolle came on for Le Tallec after an hour. The highlight of the match was a stunning goal by Harry Kewell just after the interval. It was very similar to a goal he would score against Tottenham two and a half years later ... a wonderful first-time volley into the Kop goal following a deep cross from the right wing.

Sorry, Max. That's only half right. It was Sinama-Pongolle's debut Yes but not Le Tallec's. Anthony's first-team debut came as a substitute at Blackburn on the 13th of September 2003. This European match against Olimpija was his 6th appearance but only his second start (he was a substitute against Leicester, Charlton and Arsenal in the weeks leading up to this European match; he had also started the away leg against Olimpija in Slovenia on the 24th of September).

A few good choices today. That Oldham game was a smash and grab. I remember reading afterwards that an Oldham striker maybe Darren Beckford said that was the worst Liverpool team he could remember. At the time I thought it was sour grapes but he probably wasn't far off.

The Chelsea win was a big win for Houllier's new look side. After a few mixed results it showed we could contain and beat the stronger sides. Think they finished with nine?

Did we become the first English team to win in Kiev? Thompson in charge for that one, followed the final few minutes in an internet cafe before starting a new job in Sydney. Get a bit nostalgic for the 2001 season as you'll find out in a few days time. Suspense must be killing you all!...

Ahhh... memories, I was stopped by a thick as pigshit Manc copper on my way into that Oldham game because the thought I was wearing a fascist T-shirt. For the record the image on the shirt was a version of this one....

Sadly says more about the problems in Oldham than anything else I guess.

Also jumping back one day, I was at that Blackburn game, absolute cracker, though we lost but I'll always remember it for this...

that fulham comeback was superb. it was almost istanbul-esque in terms of it being a game of two halves, mainly inspired by alonso's introduction at half time. the look on biscan's face when he scored the fourth was priceless.

i went to the blackburn game at ewood park. barnes's goal was fantastic, but ultimately in vain. however i recall we went there a few weeks later in the league cup and fucking battered them.

Maybe away from home? Can remember us doing it a couple of times in the dire 98/99 season when we went 2-0 down at home to Newcastle and Spurs and went on to win both. And also Forest at home on New Year's Day in 96 when Fowler got a couple.

Used to love those comebacks when we got the first and you sensed the momentum build and a sense of the inevitable that the other team could do nothing to stop it.

fulham game was great

was playing for my saturday league team and it was our first season. we took the lead 1-0 but my centre back parter twice slipped at the worst possible moment for us to go 1-2. 2-2 at half time then our one sub scored the winner. one of me best mates. 3-2 win. first ever league win

only 12 of us turned up. one lad tried to go off but had to stay on injured when he realized we had no subs. i had a long standing groin injury and probably would have asked to go off but with no subs there was no point. was dying for a piss the entire match. didnt get time to go beforehand and half time was only 5 mins which was used up by a team talk. pissing rain aswell, think about 2 litres of piss just froze up inside me

last 15 mins went on forever, i remember one volley for a clearance late on, their mid chipped it up nicely for me. edge of my own box under no pressure i just absolutely wellied it right down to their corner flag. even roared "have it"

got into my car just as igor scored the 4th and what a goal that was

isee the blackburn 2005 game there, blackburn fans were slagging cisse about his broken leg all match

was at the same time training with my football team, hastily arranged training session where only 9 of showed up. was utterly shambolic, the manager didnt even bother turning up. eventually one of my mates had enough and walked off home

was a complete waste of time.

I had a similar story for the Fulham one. I was playing in Wimbledon and then had to get across London and out to Essex for a mate's party. Lost my game in the last minute, so pissed off I jumped on a train, get updates through to say we are two down. Arrive at waterloo really really pissed off and jump on the tube to Liverpool St...get out the other end and the phone starts going crazy...two one , two all, three two...grab a burger king and onto the train...final beep and I feared the worst...four two, nice one igor! Bacon double cheeseburger tasted even better after that!

That was a magnificent result in Kiev considering what had happened 3 days earlier with Gerard Houllier being admitted to hospital for heart surgery. Was really proud of the team that night for getting a win in adversity in such a difficult place.

A bit of luck with the og at Fulham and Alonso's free kick hit a Fulham head en route to goal, but what a strike by Igor to settle it!!

Will always remember the QPR game for Digger's goal,it pretty much set his standard for the remainder of his time at Anfield, legend!

The beach ball game will always stay in my mind too. I was leaving Afghanistan that day and after 2 or 3 flights in various kinds of aircraft I was waiting in Kandahar for my flight home when a lad came and told me the result and how they scored, that sort of summed up that season for me!

We were 2-0 and 3-1 up but still didn't win the match. Kenny scored his first League goal since November 1980. He had scored in several cup matches in the 2nd half of the 1980-81 season and the start of the 1981-82 season but he just couldn't net in a First Division match for nearly a year until he finally broke his drought in this game at Brighton. This was one of the best European aways I ever went on. The group I booked with stayed in Montreux the night before the match (a beautiful setting overlooking Lake Geneva) and then moved on to Sion the next morning. There were some problems in the hotel during the night and at one stage it looked as if the Police would not let us out of their town (some items had 'disappeared' from the hotel in the early hours of the morning) but eventually the coaches were allowed to move out. Things were a lot quieter in Sion than they had been in Montreux and the locals were friendly and hospitable. I remember Dominic Matteo making a bad mistake that led to Sion scoring early on. But Fowler equalised before half-time and Barnes scored with a header from a right-wing corner to give us the win.

This was a dire 0-0 back in the days of Football Manager (or was it Championship Manager?) legend Ibrahim Bakayoko. United beat them 4-1 at Goodison round about late October/early November and at that point had scored more goals at Goodison than Everton had that season!

Same here, probably the best individual goal that's ever been scored at Anfield.
Also, I remember the Kop being absolutely rammed and I'm pretty sure they locked the gates about half an hour before kick off. I've never seen the place so packed, even with matches like Saint Etienne.
I was right at the back and only just got in before the lock, and my feet never touched the ground for a couple of hours.
