Thanks for Cardiff '03 Jerzy, but most of all thanks for Istanbul '05.  You wrote yourself into the clubs history books that night.  All the best

His name will live on forever.  Hundred years down the line when aliens have invaded our planet and have taken to watching football, they will look back at Istanbul and think, that was the best game ever played and that Dudek must have been possessed by nbajlbsdasd (Their equivalent of Jesus) to have made those saves.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

It is unclear whether Dudek has retired from football, as such, though. His contract with R.M. (he signed a one-year extension last May) ends with the official end of the current season.

Great man.

Will never forget "The Save".
The sort of moment where if you saw it in a football movie you'd turn it off straight away and think what a load of unrealistic nonsense. Then again that whole night was just ridiculous really.

Never understood why he signed for Madrid. He was too good to play backup keeper for someone.

To echo everyone else though, he'll always be a hero here. YNWA Jerzy.

Love Jerzy. Met him once when I was out and he had a lovely soft voice. For some reason he was doing star jumps in Victoria Street.

Whenever I see a footballer retire I get utterly dejected that I've got decades to go :( Lucky gits.

RM gave him quite a sendoff!  http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/3277/la-liga/2011/05/22/2497857/jerzy-dudek-moved-by-guard-of-honour-send-off-in-real

In another article, Jerzy was quoted ""When my teammates and friends formed the corridor... I don't have words to describe it" http://www.madeupnonsense.com/articles/real-madrid-keeper-dudek-announces-retirement-1647401

Not bad considering he only played in 2 league matches for them, 11 matches in all.

Thanks for the memories, Jerzy!  YNWA

That save in Istanbul, coupled with his penalty saves from Pirlo and Shevchenko, means he will always be a legend. His saves in the 2003 Carling Cup final victory over the Mancs also deserve a mention. Pity he more than made up for it when they came to Anfield, but every keeper has bad days.

Best wishes Jerzy.
