Watching the game tonight i was thinking to myself that this is a game where Rafa would get the tactics right and wed hold Barca out including Messi and score on the counter attack. Pity i dont have this feeling when we play in the league as this season i always expect us to concede as weve been poor.

Just what we need, another thread to debate Rafa and his tactics ;)

So in a thread about Arsenal v Barca, you still manage to get a dig in at Rafa? Impressive.

Great stuff, another dig at Rafa. I tell you what, if we had the money to compete and Rafa could buy players of the calibre that were on show for Barca tonight, we would be flying too.

I said after the first leg that he's a definate impact player, off the bench, and it's been proven enough times now that i'd say i'm still right.

Don't get me wrong, I think he's a good young player, but the way people (not here) go on about him, you'd think he was Messi-like. I still don't see how he lifted their team in the first leg off the bench too, but I agree about the impact thing.
We have to change from doubter to believer. Now.

Correct me if I'm wrong, aren't we the last British team to have beaten Barca at the Camp?

Messi, eh? Bit good, isn't he?
Barcelona have a pretty likeable team on the whole, except that twat Dani Alves. Very slappable face.
Messi was outstanding but Xavi was unreal tonight. Never made a bad decision.
Barca players were thinking about the classico after 60 mins though.
Was far too big an ask of Arsenal, but I was impressed with Nasri. If Fabregas leaves, it could be the making of him. Looks much better in a more central position.

Or very possible on current form.

We will put 3 past Benfica on Thursday though. :)

Arshavin scored 4, implies

Arshavin = Messi

Therefore, Arsenal lost because Arshavin was injured...

I think the interesting comparison is Patrick Barclay's. He was saying that Rooney is better than Messi due to his strength. The question is:

Man Utd 4-1 Hull (Rooney 4)
Barcelona 4-1 (Messi 4)

Which opponent is better?

I wanted Barca to win, but I'm very disappointed with Arsenal's performance. FFS, they wasted every chance they had. And they are one of few teams who have a fairly good chance of beating Barca. You've got to play the ball quickly past their midfield. No fucking about, just get the ball forward. They had a fair few opportunities similar to the one where they scored and they missed them all.

For that you'd first need to tell Rafa to order the players to advance their positions each by 10 or 15 meters

Fair play to you magic for showing up, most would run and hide after a mauling like that so good on ye lad and I honestly do hope you win the league.

As for Europe, you're only young lad, you've got plenty of years ahead of you to watch your beloved Arsenal win next to nothing in Europe. ;)
