Please don't tell me we have fans who are moaning about us potentially winning a European trophy.  I don't think we should be in it, if I'm honest, because I believe that once you're out of the European Cup, that should be it.  But Uefa disagree, and if they say we can play for, and win, the Uefa Cup, then I hope we do.  There have been some big names in the competition this year, and whilst I'd rather we'd been competing for Big Ears, I'm not going to call any European competition a joke.

Id love if Lyon or Bayern won it, people expect Barcelona to walk it but would be funny if they didn't.

Any Liverpool fan who thinks its a joke wasn't around circa 2001. Certainly didn't feel like a joke waking up in my colours 30 minutes before my lift was picking me up at 6.30am

Or being glued to the TV when you had two GCSEs the next morning didn't feel like a joke either.

It's exactly the same trophy. Isn't it?!

On that note, even though they renamed it, Im glad they kept the trophy the same, it's a fuckin gorgeous cup.
I'll always keep in my heart the good times I've had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager.

Agree. People will take the piss and perhaps rightly so. But no trophy is a joke. A trophy is a trophy whether it was a carling cup or Europa league. I would rather win it than get out in the semis.

says the "not bitter" arsenal fan ;D ;)

Had a gooner I know taking the piss out of me today for being in the Europa cup. I politely pointed out that a) at least we are still in europe and b) if he could let me know when the last time Arsenal won any european competition. Apparently "fuck off" is the well known date of their last european triumph. Needless to say I was laughing in his face with glee. If we lose to Atletico then i fully expect the fucker to be back in taking the piss that we got knocked out of the both the CL and the Europa, but that's ok, i don't mind, i'll just ask him if he's seen Terry Henry's CL medals when he won it with barca.......he fucking hates that ;D

I just think anyone who takes the piss out of the UEFA Cup shouldnt.

Likewise the Mancs gloating about their Carling Cup wins even though they used to say it was a Mickey Mouse Cup.

I think the "Germans" comment brings up a new point.

Can United lose "fairly"? Or must the refereeing be blamed for every one of their defeats? Can anyone remember a time in which they were beaten without Ferguson lying about mistreatment by referees?
Wenger is even worse to be honest.

I said before the game on Wednesday night that there'll be a French team in the final and I'm standing by that.

To be honest I never thought lyon had a chance until I watched a couple of bayer games. There is not a team on the earth not able to score a couple of goals to Bayer and sooner or later Bayern will pay for it.

Just checking, the Mancs are still out aren't they? UEFA hasn't re-instated them or anything else less obvious have they?
