I have voted for Germany because nothing would wind the fucking bellends up more.  Fuck England.  I hope Wayne Rooney breaks his legs in the world cup and also has an unhappy life and he gets syphilis.

That was a second round game? I thought that was an absurdist play about the inevitability of despair.

Neither sit right with me..... Football is much deeper than just turning up to watch the match, it's about being part of a community, a brotherhood... something you have to live to understand, you can't just 'choose' it...

Like the Basque one, not a part of FIFA and don't play many games - only friendlies (I believe Catalonia v Argentina happened a few months ago).

I just remember praying for penalties for some excitement, ANY excitement...

Only for it to be the worst penalty shootout I've ever seen, the Swiss could still be taking penalties now and still wouldnt be scoring any. (although it was fun to see Shevchenko missing again) ;D

Almost every region in Spain has a regional team. They play friendlies against national teams all over the world and they usually get beaten. Waste of time.

We have a decent chance. I really think it could happen theis year. We havnt done too bad in recent World Cups... All we need is just a bit of luck on the night, and we are close to a Final.
2006... QF's and knocked out by Portugal on penalties
2002... QF's and knocked out by Brazil 2-1, who later win the competition.
1998... 2nd round and knocked out by Argentina on penalties.

Not that I've recently given a fuck about England, but are we spying some problems on the horizon for England?

No reliable keeper
Ferdinand injured most of season
Terry alright but shagged
Bridge's missus
Johnson injured for a good while
Ashley Cole getting dumped
Jagielka injured all season
Barry's been in better form
Young's been in better form, pretty dull season for him really
Beckham's ancient(er)
Gerrard's been out of sorts all season
Lennon's been injured most of the season
Walcott's been injured or shite until now

I certainly wouldn't be naming us as favourites, the only top class and in-form players available would be Rooney, Lampard, Milner, Agbonlahor, and Defoe.

Yep, wouldn't put money on them, Agbonlahor and Milner aren't really world beaters in my opinion.
A fresh and in form Joe Cole could do something for them though.

Still can't see past Spain to be honest, could field two teams and have a chance with either.

When was the last time England beat one of the worlds top ten teams in a competitive match?

Am I correct in saying that it was at the 2002 World Cup against Argentina?

Prior to that they had victories against Germany (WC Qualifying 2001) Spain (Euro 96) and Holland (Euro 96)

So thats 4 in 14 years by my count. If we ignore their 2 wins at the Euro's then it stands at 2 wins in 13 years.

Yet every time a major tournament rolls around the England band wagon is still in full flow. I hope they fail at the group stages.

When overtaken by defeat, as you may be many times, remember than mans faith in his own ability is tested many times before he is crowned with final victory. Defeats are nothing more than challenges to keep trying.” – Napoleon Hill.

England won't win it, but they still have good players and an amazing coach in Capello. Think the semi's are more than possible.

Still going for Brazil to win this. Hopefully its us though (by us I mean England).

It will be interesting to see what peoples predictions are for the different teams squads, whether it be Spain, England, Brazil or whoever.

Looking forward to the World Cup, think its going to be immense. Went to Germany last time and saw a quarter final match with Italy and the Ukraine. Was a great experience.

The low point was seeing pissed Brits collapsing in the sun before the England game in a fan park, and being helped by kindly Germans.

But I do support England, especially if Gerrard is captaining. What I don't like is overhype and the Chelsea lot. End of the day, if you respect other people, national pride is not a bad thing. Liverpool has always been an important part of English culture, I don't understand this anti-bias from some of our fans

...but then I am not from Liverpool.

Don't let him play with it! Put it in a concealed container for 50 years. I've still the 2002 world cup ball in my cupboard which has never been used. Although there is a couple of teeth marks on it from when I put it on the floor and my dog tried to pick it up with his mouth. Grrr

I think we all want england to get to a quarter or maybe a semi and then bottle it like they always do with the hopes of a nation on thier shoulders and then we will all have a good laugh at them
