I didnt know Macca was from Birkenhead
He wasn't perfect, he made mistakes. But he was genuine. He had the best interests of the club at heart, and gave us a plethora of successful teams that we should have been thankful for.

If you need a keeper then it has to be Tony "bonus" Warner

I played with/against 2 lads who aren't mentioned.. Paul Jewell and John Jeffers both scousers Paul played up front for De La Salle and John for SFX. Charlie Boyd is mentioned but he never got a 1st team run out and sacked it out of the reserves. .........................Oh yeah and what about Scully don't forget him!

No, not bad at all.

I was going to go through the long list of "Merseysiders" that Southern Pansy and shanklyboy (in the Scousers XI thread) posted and just pick out the ones I knew. But I got carried away and what you have above from me is the pick of the crop based on what I read on LFCHistory, i.e. including the like of Walter Wadsworth ...
Quote
Walter Wadsworth

... a commanding centre-half who was at Anfield for seven seasons immediately following the end of the First World War ... When the club first won and then retained the League championship in 1922 & 1923, Walter played in 75 out of a maximum 84 matches ...

Most of the names I selected played 100 games or more. Although it looks like a long list, it's considerably shorter than the full list.

As you say:

                                          William Molyneux

Tommy Smith         Phil Thompson      Jamie Carragher          Chris Lawler

Ian Callaghan       Steven Gerrard       Terry McDermott         Steve McManaman

                               Robbie Fowler        John Aldridge

is a great side (apart from our distinct lack of a local keeper) and, even sticking to more recent players that we all know, there are some pretty good subs knocking on the door too:

Gerry Byrne, Jimmy Case, David Johnson, Sammy Lee, Steve McMahon, Ronnie Moran.
