Meh, no Nemeth. Would have  been fun to see him on the bench atleast. Good team, Kuyt upfront, Benny on right, otherwise, quite the usual team.

thought he might have made it

but we have West brom so that could be a more fitting game for him to make the bench

Dirky's been in fine form, and hopefully Gerrard won't be too rusty. I want to see a tight defense though lads, no more of these silly goals.

would have liked to see N'Gog up front - not many defences as poor as Newcastles to grab a few. Should be enough in that team to run out 3-1 I reckon.

GERRARD RETURNS BUT NO TORRES V MAGPIES
Paul Hassall at Anfield 03 May 2009
Steven Gerrard returns to the starting line-up as Liverpool bid to close the gap at the top with victory over Newcastle this afternoon. Listen live from 1pm BST.
The Reds skipper has missed the last four matches through injury but has been passed fit for the visit of the Magpies and replaces Lucas Leiva as Rafael Benitez makes four changes from the side that beat Hull City.

Fabio Aurelio also returns in place of Emiliano Insua with Daniel Agger, who last night agreed a contract extension, coming in for Martin Skrtel.

Albert Riera is the other change, replacing Fernando Torres who does not make the bench.

The Liverpool team in full: Reina, Arbeloa, Aurelio, Carragher, Agger, Mascherano, Alonso, Kuyt, Benayoun, Gerrard, Riera. Subs: Cavalieri, Skrtel, Ngog, Dossena, Babel, Lucas, El Zhar

Newcastle will be desparate, it won't be a normal LFC - Newcastle game.

The longer will go without scoring the tougher it will get.

We need to start well and score early.

When did Torres do his hamstring? Is this another or just a precaution?

He did it in training apparently - felt it twinge and decided not to risk it. Its more precautionary to avoid getting a possible bad injury, which is sensible to be honest.

Nothing at all. That evil spaniard Benitez is prioritising Spain's international matches this summer over the Premier league (which he hates of course) so is giving Torres a rest. It's called "rotation". These foreign managers do it a lot.
