FAO RAWK on tour in Barca crew
« on: March 5, 2002, 02:12:21 pm »
Things have got a little confusing and have had one hell of a morning sorting out a few 'teething' problems!  Suffice to say, Bob's having a little local difficulty and may not make the trip.  He's also a bit difficult to get hold of at the moment, so just in case things go tits up, I need everyone to pay attention for the next 30 seconds or so!  ;D

Can everyone who is going to Barca and STAYING IN THE HOTEL INGLATERRA as part of the mob that Bob sorted out before Xmas confirm that on this thread.

So far, I've got:

Me - arrive Tues 10.30am, leave 5pm Thurs
Cherith
Al Wilson (RaB) - same as Dave
Chester Boy  - same as Dave
Steve C - same as Dave
Gareth - Same as Dave
Jason - same as Dave
KOTP
Alana
Kopster
Smartiefiend - arrives 10.30am Tues, leaves 11pm Thurs

Is there anyone I've missed?  Apologies if so and could you let me know.  Ta

Also, I have no idea about who's in with who (no fighting over who's the lucky lad in with Cherith now!  ;D ), so make sure you have your roomie sorted out!!

On the tickets front - its ONLY those who've been to European aways this season who are going to get tickets to the match.  The two out of the four on our app who have been away this season got tickets and the other two did not.  Its gonna be one hell of a scramble for tickets when we get out there!!

Finally, if you are part of Bob's booking, then you'll need to pay for the hotel on arrival.  Major credit cards will no doubt be more than welcome!!

8)Dave, there's hope yet cos the TO were sorting out the priorities first then moving onto non priority apps (those who haven't been to other away games) I just rang the TO and I've got lucky with my non priority app and the tickets were sent out yesterday so they are working their way through and allocating the remaining tickets. If you call the TO they'll tell you whether the other two on your app have been lucky

See ya there!

Its a fucking disgrace what has happened here.

I know someone who has been to 5 euro aways this season, on an app with others who have been to 3/4, and the TO havnt allocated them tickets!! The word is that they havnt even opened all the apps yet, so why they are allocating tickets to people who havnt been before I dont know.

Good luck to those who have been lucky, but im afraid that it isnt fair, and the TO are shitting upon ppl who have been all over europe with the Reds.

:but: M8 I agree when I rang up yesterday the TO said they were finishing all priority apps before processing the non's so when I rang up this morning and they confirmed the tickets I presumed I was lucky purely cos my non priority app went in a couple of days after the draw last year and they were working through them in date order

Yeh mine was sent soon after the draw was made, 4 apps, 1 of which had been to Rome...so by rights he should get one, but its not looking good for him.

I have managed to sort myself a spare of someone tho...

Think we've got another recruit to our happy band of travellers... ok, ok, bunch of pissheads... big welcome to smartiefiend!

One other thing that might be useful to know is when everyone is arriving and leaving.  I've edited my original post for the six of us who are flying out of Luton and I know smartiefiend's plans, but how about the rest of you?

Also, who has a mobile that works abroad and will you be taking it with you?  Very useful for when people manage to lose themselves after vast quantities of beer.  If you IM me yours, I'll IM you mine... promise!!

Dave - you've got my mobile number haven't you?

I'll text / phone pissed out of my tree and let you know where I'll be / or whatever. If not, bung me one of your locations and times and I'll see about catching up with you lot.

I'll be in Amsterdam Monday night... and probably at the Nou Camp from Tuesday am, depending on how Amsterdam goes of course.  ;D... and then off to the Ramblas (depending on how ticket bargaining goes)...

Football is a simple game based on the giving and taking of passes, of controlling the ball and of making yourself available to receive a pass. It is terribly simple - Bill Shankly.

Got your number B'ski, so no worries there.  Will anyone else have a working mobile when we're out there - will help on the ticket front as well, as we can split up and cover all the options on Tuesday!

The Orange website reckons ALL orange phones will work out there, and there's no need to set anything up either.

I'm not convinced as mine is Pay As You Go, but we shall see.

Its fucking expensive though, so might be best if it doesnt work!

Latest Weather Report...

http://www.wunderground.com/global/stations/08181.html

Looks like being about 13-14 degrees Celsius, with a mixture of sun and clouds.

Not quite shorts weather, but not cold and wet either   :)

Pay as you go Mobile phones should work abroad, but check with your network operator just in case.

I'll be bringing my phone. And I'll be changing most of my cash in Spain at the banks or Currency exchange kiosks, they'll most probably have better rates for Euros.

Dave, what time are we checking in at Luton Airport?

Flight is at 7.20am on Tuesday, so probably need to look at checking in around 6.15ish as Steve says.  See you bright and early on Tuesday morning - last one there buys the beers on the plane   ;)

7.20?  Mate, there's a bar in the terminal, so I expect the first beer will get downed at around 6.30 once we've checked in (and yes I am joking!).

Given all the sorting out that will need to get done once we get to Barca (hotels and tickets mainly), I have no intention of doing any 'proper' drinking until Tuesday evening (and all day Wednesday of course!).

I will be driving to Luton Airport from London (nr Charlton).

Steve, give us a ring when you see this and contact Al if hes stuck.

I'm going early-ish to find the airport's carpark.
