Disappointed with Skate 2.  Doesn't offer anything of real substance over the original.  There's just something missing in this version that the original had and I can't quite put my finger on it.  Moving objects around doesn't really add to the game at all.

Disagree with that, this is miles better, yes the walking round sucks but moving the objects is good you can make some real good runs/lines by adding a barrier to gap or grind. You can make spots a bit more challenging.

I do find there are to many moves now to remember all the one footed stuff and the fast/hand plants also.

It's hardly miles better.  At best it offers an upgrade to the original.  I actually put the original in to see if I was indeed misguided over the weekend.  The only difference was that I felt I wasn't playing the game through a round window.

I so don't want the IGN review to be correct as the original was a great game.  However, they're right.

In your opinion. In my opinion the original was frustrating and not as fun as the sequel. This is a lot more playable than the original. The hall of meat challenges have been added well, they are not vital to the game and don't take away from the main aspect. You can take them or leave them. Other things now where, when you hit the curb you skater will trip but not always fall over.

Some nice grabs there, didn't see any hippy flip though?

That site is buggy, had a look at my page yesterday and there were videos that weren't even mine.

Does the link work now? You need to find a waist high rail and do a double flip preferably as your feet stay above the rail, its all about timing took me about 40 goes though!

Seems like the opinion of a few reviewers as well.

Don't get me wrong here, it's not a bad game.  In fact it's a decent enough effort.  The problem is that it's a typical EA update on a game.  The walking part is all but annoying.  Moving objects is fine but not rewarding enough to warrant the extra outlay on this release.  I'm gutted because the original was one of my favourite 360 games and I had high hopes for this one.

I'll probably stick with it for a few days yet before I'm ultimately bored with it.

Right. I'm going to download the demo again. Tried once and failed massively but something about the Public Enemy soundtracked trailer wants me to get into this.

Just need to leave all my Hawk's habits behind.

I have much more fun doing a simple grind or flip that i actually mean to do. Very satisfying indeed.

Played the demo the other day and really enjoyed myself, first boarding game I've played since Tony Hawks 3 on the original Xbox.  Half tempted to pop into town today and get rid of Farcry 2 for this.

You mean I can't do fifteen flip tricks after grinding off of a cannon in space? For shame!

How do you trick onto the lip Brad? Seen you do that a few times in the spot challenge at the pool. Looks very slick.

Fairly stuck on three of the pro challenges now. That s.k.a.t.e one, the nose slide and tail slide over the water, and the manuals over the tree plants.

Gonna leave them for awhile as they were driving me mad, and i just got worse the more frustrated i got.

How bastard hard is this? I'm pretty average at games so wondering if it is still enjoyable even when you get stuck on a challenge?

The joy isn't beating the game. The joy is getting online with your mates and having a laugh. Get it Ben, you will surprise yourself.
Re-trying challenges isn't that much of a bastard, but even if you do get stuck (damn you Carroll) then quit and go elsewhere. It won't halt your progression.
