It's open source, check it yourself.

Their whole raison d'etre is to collect information.

I quite like it. Bit strange, and the lack of extensions mean I'll be sticking with Firefox but it's not bad.

EDIT: Although I'm not a fan of the way they parcel crash reports and usage statistics together.

And I don't like the lack of feedback when you click on a link.

Got to settings, options, and "show home button on the toolbar".

Brilliant, thanks Jess

Their whole raison d'etre is to collect information.

The whole raison d'etre is to promote Gears and move applications online, rendering the OS choice redundant and thus nobble Microsoft's revenue stream. You can refuse to share information with google, and turn off the phishing filter.

There is a check box under options on "Under the hood".

The phishing filter uses the Safe Browsing API and does not send information to Google - it pulls an MD5'd site list from google every 30 minutes and compares all URLs against it.

Will continue to use Firefox for a while.

They're trying to get something in between the OS and the browser so they can kick out Microsoft.  At the same time they're being greedy and data mining people like hell.

There's still Firefox with XUL they could do something very similar mind.

I'm liking this.. has potential. Doesn't take up too much space on the screen (I like the way that new tabs are along the very top), and it's very quick.

i like it, only thing i don't like is when you press the scroller on the mouse to open a new tab it opens it on the left side between the one you have open but before any  ones you have open previously, not on the far right like on firefox

scratch that, only seemed to happen the one time

'dynamic tabs' are good.

smiff.....are you happily using a mac on a day to day basis now?

happily is  a strong word but yes

As for Chrome, it's a browser, it works, it doesn't have firefox's addon's so m'eh, besides, google will be recording every single thing you do so they can fuck off.

Its pretty nice actually. Think all browsers should have mouse gestures built into it. Also sorting your bookmarks looks like a bit of a hassle. No sidebar?

And middle-click > scrolling ain't working for me.

There's no doubt it's a nice browser but google are going to have to move quickly to keep the people who are trying it, at present most people will try it, think it's nice but lacks something they have in another browser that makes that other browser more worthwhile in using.

You've convinced me. Might give it a whirl as I've been having this really annoying problem on both Firefox and Opera where I get 404 errors when the browser goes off to another random site looking for an image on the site in the active window....if that makes any sense!

E.g. if I am browsing RAWK and click on a link I get a 404 error. When I look at the site that served the 404 error, it will not be RAWK, but a different site that obviously doesnt have the image.

Weird that its doing it on two different browsers, suggesting it's something local.

Google toolbar? Are you just talking about this...

These are the days when I hate the world, hate the rich, hate the happy, hate the complacent, the TV watchers, beer drinkers, the satisfied ones. Because I know I can be all of those little hateful things and then I hate myself for realising that.
