You guys have got Google Now... now. Anyone used it?

If any of you use chrome of your PC you can go to chrome://flags/ and enable Google Now for your PC. It does nothing right now apart from give you a notification center that doesn't do anything but I presume this is why they've launched it on iOS. To make the new addition useful to everyone when it comes out. My guess anyway.

Mercury is my chosen browser, very use to use and it's like a mini laptop on your phone. Can change themes and use private mode aswell and has different layouts

Downloaded it and it seems decent enough for me, cheers pal!

I have itunes on my macbook.

In my music library I have only 'checked/ticked' 60% of my songs.

I now want to make a separate playlist where only the 'checked/ticked' tracks from my main library show up.

How can I do this? At the moment I'm just dragging my tracks across into the playlist but that will take forever... is there a way to just add them all in a quicker way?

Thanks

Create a new Smart Playlist, in the first drop down box change it to 'Checked' and then the second one to 'True'. Untick live updating if you don't want it to change as you check/uncheck new tracks.

Done.

Anyone who has Sky+ and an iPad needs to download the Sky+ app. Never realised how good it was until earlier this week, its so much better to use it as a remote to search through the guide (and especially On Demand stuff).

Got it installed on my iphone and my nexus 7.

Mucho amusement on a Sunday morning when the kids are downstairs with the cartoons on as you can pause and play playback and change channels.

I think this is the only real reason those apps are popular  ;D

Also just wanted to get this out there, if anyone's looking for a live score app I think I've found the best one ( after trying an embarrassing amount  ::) ) It's called "live score addicts". Don't think there's a league that isn't there that more than 50 people would care about. Has stats/league tables and FREE HIGHLIGHTS on major games. Sometimes the highlights get taken down, but they'll usually stay up for long enough. Free app as well, indie developers so it's a proper sound app. Massively recommend.

When you're using an app like Waze or Navfree for satnav, how much data usage does it use up?

Like any other App that uses data, the answer depends on how many times a month you'll use it and for how long.

I am not sure that Waze uses a whole lot.  But to be on the safe side, I get it to load and cache the route via WiFi before I leave the house.

Not sure if that makes a difference, but it my mind it does :)

I'm not too sure because I have 96mb of data left so not sure how much of that a satnav app will use up, a normal 45-min journey.

Yeah I'll definitely load up the routes and stuff at home using Wifi :)

MyScript Calculator.

I don't know if I'll use it a lot, but it was something I haven't seen before.

MyScript is excellent! Love using that instead of the standard calculator. :)

I foolishly upgraded my Iphone software to whatever the current version is - now my phone wont play in any of the docking stations in the house (or charge) .

Is there a solution for this or is that the end of the phone as an ipod ?

If the answer is in this thread somewhere Id be much appreciated if some kind soul could point me in the right direction

cheers

Another one, which isn't an app for iOS, as much as it is a tool to support it, is Airserver. www.airserver.com

As I understand it, it's pretty much an Apple TV if you have your computer hooked up to your tv. For $15 and you can try it for free for 7 days.

I recently got an iPad for my birthday, and have realised that when I plug my iPad into my laptop to connect with iTunes, the iPad is not charging, like an iPhone or iPod would do. I had a look around and found out that using a usb port doesn't have enough power to charge the iPad when plugged into the laptop. Is the only way to charge my iPad through the mains? Or is there some way to charge the iPad through the laptop, through any software or anything, as this is going to be incredibly annoying otherwise.

Charging tips
iPad is designed to charge with the USB Power Adapter provided in the box. iPad will charge with any Apple USB Power Adapter and will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port. When attached to a computer through a standard USB port (most PCs or earlier Mac computers) iPad will charge, but only when it's in sleep mode. Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad through USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.

Had it a bit back, and it is addictive but fucking annoying how quickly you can use up lives and then have to wait ages for it to allow more - especially when you get stuck on levels (which will happen) for days!

Dropped my 4s in the toilet this morning when I was half asleep before work. Have it insured through O2, anyone had any experience with them in dealing with claims? Has a few scratches too so tempted to just say I lost it or it got stolen when I was out and see if I can get a new one, or blag the 5 off them.

Yeah they'd probably question it if you said you just "lost" it, however I don't think they'd have any problems with there being scratches on it. They'll probably just send you a new one anyway since yours has water damage.

And probably need to report it 'stolen'... Not sure o2 cover for 'loss'...?

I have claimed off them two or three time and it has never been a problem. Each time they've just sent out a replacement via courier. I'd take SIM out of broken iPhone, hand it over and receive the same model back minus accessories as you just keep them. One time I got an upgrade because they didn't have mine in stock.
