I find it interesting, and quietly hopeful that with all the grand announcements that G&H are swimmingly happy together again and that the stadium build is about to commence, there has been not a single word from Parry or Benitez on the matter. I may just be too cynical, but since this is such a big moment for the club, it's surprising that the only positive noises we hear come from across the pond.

Can I just ask why the streets surrounding the ground have been bought, boarded up or, in a lot of cases, pulled down?  I've thought from day one that there was never any intention to build a new stadium and have this strong feeling we are going to expand the existing structure.  What was the point in the surrounding areas being bulldozed if it wasn't to expand the current footprint?

Just take a look at the Anfield-Breckfield regeneration plan - it's all explained in detail there. Has absolutely nothing to do with expanding the current footprint.

If you're going to sign up on Betfair and fancy getting a free £25 on sign-up then use my refer code 749DCNQGK and I'll also get a £25 bonus ;)

Rushian wasn't this deadline put to them when the takeover with DIC was in due diligence. And that Flo Clucas and the council were happy with the guarantees, but the NWDA even then were not?

I ask this because I'm sure Liverpool virtually had no choice about the Americans once DIC pulled out. They either went with them or the NWDA would withdraw funding.

I could be wrong but I'm absolutely convinced a deadline was set by the NWDA in late 2006.

The NWDA have never been happy.  They are the main instigators of the shared stadium bollocks.  It took them something like 2 years just to read the application for funds from LCC (note it is LCC not LFC applying for funds as funds can't go to a commercial organisation).

The money is earmarked for the replacement of the vernon sangster and other associated works.

As for the european money, you've got to ask the question why it took the stadium plan for LCC to actually consider regenerating Anfield/Breckfield.  The objective one funds should have been applied for whether a new stadium went ahead or not.  The area needs regenerating and while the city council dragged their heels on this they've seen one of the two major business' in the area say they are leaving the city while the other is being railroaded into accepting a shared stadium at some unspecified location for an unspecified cost.

The £9m is irrelevant to the stadium though. If we can't afford the stadium, we don't get the stadium. End of. Whether the £9m is released has absolutely no effect on our ability to build the stadium.

If we can't afford it, we can't afford it, with or without the £9m from the NWDA.
Agreed, and if we cant afford a new stadium that is a very big blow indeed as it basically nails our long term future down to becoming a gutsy also ran as far as the league is concerned.

loved it when he said the Americans weren't in Baghdad and you could see them across the river.

Yeah, wasn't there a big argument about a year ago, because we wanted to use some of it to build the roof?

i think so
Liverpool is our religion,
Anfield is our church,
The Kop is our choir,
Fowler is our God.

Why is there even a Sub Forum for the Stadium, might as well close it for another 5 years then Open it again
