He is now playing Hyde Park with Fleet Foxes, Ben Harper, Seasick Steve and The Pretenders the day before Springsteen!

It was a superb gig.  My first time - after twenty years of waiting and it was probably the shortest two hours of my life.

His actual encore was a belting version of "A day in the life" as it happens.

Absolutely brilliant mate.  I had a tear in my eye by the time he'd waltzed through "The Needle and the Damage Done", "Old Man" and "Heart of Gold".  I was quite nervous beforehand, you know when you've waited for something for so long and with such anticipation there is always the fear that you will be let down.  Not at all - it was everything I hoped and more. I just need to get to a non-festival gig now. Two hours was nowhere near enough (and I'm from the old punk school of a one hour gig is fucking milking it ;) ).

The whole festival was fantastic to be honest but Young was definitely the highlight.

^ I am extremely jealous, I was reading a review from one of the Canadian shows which was great, he is aging well.

I'm moving to the U.S in the autumn so I will get to see him next year with a bit of luck  ( he does seem to enjoy touring)

Am i alone in thinking that Tonights The Night is one of the most achingly beautiful and honest albums ever recorded and that his cracked out of tune vocals on "Mellow My Mind" is one of the most touching vocal performances ever, few artists would have the balls to leave such a nakedly honest performance on record.

Nah. You're spot on. Its superb.
Borrowed Tune is  my fave on there.

Can't believe how a 63 years old man who's on tour almost every year since 1965 and suffered a major brain surgery a few years ago can still put so much energy on stage. What a legend. The best rock song writter of his time, without a doubt.

Never had the chance to see him playing Cortez the Killer in concert before yesterday. Made up he played that tune, which is to me the most emotional song I've ever heard. Loved the 5 minutes guitar solo/intro before the lyrics starts : He came dancing across the water. With his galleons and guns Superb song.

Second highest point of the show : an amazing end to the anthem Rockin' in the free world. Something like that : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkK_r8JJBCg

The set list that kept 7.000 Parisians rocking yesterday evening :

Love And Only Love / Hey Hey, My My (Into The Black) / Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere / Pocahontas / Spirit Road / Cortez The Killer / Cinnamon Girl / Mother Earth / Don't Let It Bring You Down / Goin' Back / Comes A Time / Heart Of Gold / Old Man / Mansion On The Hill / Get Behind The Wheel / Rockin' In The Free World // Like A Hurricane / A Day In The Life

Parts of it looked boring on TV coverage but don't think there were any crowd shots to see reaction.

Bound to have been good. Setlists highly different to last year when I went to Hop Farm and the Hammersmith gigs.

Awesome!...from kicking off with Hey hey my my ( worth the ticker money alone)...to a truly stunning encore of " A day in the life"...it was a jaw dropping moment when as the Paul McCartney section of the song kicks in ( "woke up got outta bed")...who joins NY on stage? ..Paul McCartney!! :o...the crowd went wild....well apart form me mate who shouts " fuckoff knobhead" ( no, hes not  a fan)

a glorious night, Neil Young should be cherished, hes getting on , but you never believe it form the power he puts into his performance.

he played:

'Hey Hey, My My (Into The Black)'
'Mansion On The Hill'
'Are You Ready For The Country?'
'Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere'
'Spirit Road'
'Words (Between The Lines Of Age)'
'Cinnamon Girl'
'Fuckin' Up'
'Mother Earth'
'The Needle And The Damage Done'
'Comes A Time'
'Unknown Legend'
'Heart Of Gold'
'Old Man'
'Down By The River'
'Get Behind The Wheel'
'Rockin' In The Free World'
'A Day In The Life'

Absolutely amazing concert, words fail me.
That was probably the best concert not just of his, but any I've ever been to, if he'd played Cortez i would have wept.
He's 63 now and I doubt I'll ever get the chance to see him play again but if anyone does get the chance to watch him, take it, you'll be missing out on a legend if you don't.

he is THE greatest guitarist alive today without a shadow of a doubt....and I think McCartney thinks that as well

hey hey my my , rock and roll can never die....

Have been a strictly harvest man until recently, now have After the gold rush, Zuma & harvest moon too as well as parts of rust never sleeps.

This, below, though is having a similar effect on me as old man & a man needs a maid did.

Monumental stuff.

Don't let it bring you down.

Old man lying by the side of the road
With the lorries rolling by,
Blue moon sinking from the weight of the load
And the building scrape the sky,
Cold wind ripping down the allay at dawn
And the morning paper flies,
Dead man lying by the side of the road
With the daylight in his eyes.

Don't let it bring you down
It's only castles burning,
Find someone who's turning
And you will come around.

Blind man running through the light of the night
With an answer in his hand,
Come on down to the river of sight
And you can really understand,
Red lights flashing through the window in the rain,
Can you hear the sirens moan?
White cane lying in a gutter in the lane,
If you're walking home alone.

Don't let it bring you down
It's only castles burning,
Just find someone who's turning
And you will come around.

Don't let it bring you down
It's only castles burning,
Just find someone who's turning
And you will come around.
