Have you tried transmit? It's brilliant. If you call that dumbed down, I'll  switch to windows to use whatever you use because anymore features and it will wipe my arse and cook me breakfast.

Transmit consistently wins best application awards, and considering a hell of a lot of web designers choose Mac, I'd be surprised if it doesn't do what you need.

i have Transmit, and i'm not fussed on it, it reminds me of a pretty good one i had on windows years ago called SmartFTP but not quite as good. FlashFXP is what i've used for a long time now and it can do everything you could possibly want, but i guess if you've never had those extra bits available to you, you won't miss them, eh ;)

I've used it, for about 6 months. It's nowhere near as good as transmit. You need to sort yourself out, you're used to these namby pamby windows crap - you're using what the pro's use now.. get with the program. :P;)

You know it's bollocks when it's main selling points are "Full Featured User Interface with Drag & Drop Support" and "Local and Site to Site File transfers."

WOW!!!! NOT DRAG AND DROP LOLERZ

mmm, yes, shite that remote site-to-site transfer, where's that on Transmit then?

As far as I can see, FFXP can do everything Transmit can do, and then some.

Need to look harder then. :wave

Such an advanced feature that you can't do it... oh wait - you drag...then you drop... Using tabs, it's easy.

FFXP is fine, but so is transmit. Very powerful and should be more than enough for any needs.

I use Azureus for torrents, never had a problem. Its picked up incomplete files from other computers before as well.

I use what EP suggested to me a while ago Transmission, the only one problem I have had from it is torrents from one of the private trackers I use refuse to download in it

It was my external HD that was broken.

So now everything is delayed a bit - but fine :)

I even managed to burn my first DVD last night without actually understanding what I was doing.

But it worked :P

EP you were right about Transmission - blimey it has fast transfer rates!! I had 590kb/s+ on a torrent from Torrentleech!  Demonoid is usually slower, haven't tried it on that yet....

this inkwell thing, i'm confused.

i turned it on and i'm in photoshop, i draw something and it puts this box around that looks like notepaper, i stop drawing/writing, it pauses and then makes everything disappear ???

do i need to change a setting somewhere in photoshop or click summin or what to get it to do whatever it is it's supposed to be doing.

i can draw/write in the little notepad thing and it recognises it's text, it can't read my writing ;D but it's working.

i turned it on

That's your problem.

Seriously, I've been using a Wacom for about 2 years and never once had the need to mess with that. It's more for writing letters, I believe (and doing silly little patterns to get stuff to work).

What tablet have you got? To get it working well in photoshop you need to adjust your brush preferences and customise how you want it to react with the pen.

i went for the intuos3 A5 wide, thought the 16:10 would map rather nicely with the widescreen on this.

Says on Apple that inkwell is some kind of revelation that means you never have to type in text when you're using the pen, i'm shocked that you've never used it ;D i can't say i'll have a whole load of use for it but just wanted to see what it can do, which doesn't appear to be very much outside of it's own little pad thing unless i'm missing a setting somewhere.

First thing i did was set the pen settings in PS ;)

Well, yeah, I can, but umm... new toy isn't it :D Just wanted to see if it would allow me to write in text rather than type it, especially with it having the cmd/alt/option/scroll or zoom buttons on the tablet itself, if you can get the little command system going with it you wouldn't need to put down the pen at all. I need to seek out some proper info into how it works and intergrates with apps, I don't usually need to type a lot of text in PS, occasional few lines, so it could be handy, and if i can get it doing the commands it'd be great cos of the way I have it physically set up at present.

Good choice, same as I've got. Superb, but pricey.

Worth every penny though, eh. My old one is a trust one, wasn't exactly expensive when i bought it but there was no way I could've afforded a Wacom then, it served me well, but this thing is just beautiful.

Will hopefully be getting one myself before the year is out

They're definately worth it, makes things so much easier if you do any freehand/painting. I can *just* about cope doing painting with a touchpad, but I can't use a mouse to save my life anymore.

:lmao Don't speak about windows

LAst week it managed to fuck up and need a fully new installation on my parallels partition. It was only used for betfair poker, how can it fuck up with one application installed ???

A new update came out for the poker client which required direct x 9, installed both through the steps provided via windows. Then restart as per, then couldn't even open betfair poker, something about 3d such and such failing.

Piece of shit

Or you could use another company who are willing to spend some of YOUR money to support the computer YOU want to use...

Put it like this, if I wanted a BMW, and Shell didn't want to provide fuel that worked with my BMW, I'd not change the car to suit the fuel...

I'd just get the fuel somewhere else.

There isn't really many that work for macs. The only one I have found is full tilt but I prefer the betfair layout. Which is surprising seen as its a windows app ;)

I'm not using windows.

I'm getting almost there now in fulfilling all my private computer needs on my mac.

Dreamweaver is the final part.

Or could I manage an dreamweaver created web page with another program?
