Taken from the Football Echo:
"One leading magazine earlier this week asked Steven Gerrard the best joke he's ever heard.
Had the Liverpool midfielder read one of Johnny Gile's columns he'd have had the perfect answer.
Have you heard the one about Owen Hargreaves being a better player than Stevie G?
Not sure if Stevie read Giles' pearl of wisdom yesterday, but since the Irishman's former club are in town today, one hope's he did and he's responded in the appropriate way.
A few more amusing revelations have emerged from Huyton'd finest in the last few days.
For example, don't expect him to follow the path of Mr Beckham in the style stakes.
"You don't see many people where I was brought up with tattoo's, piercings or jewellery," he says
"I'll leave all that to Beckham. Piercing's not for me. The most stylish people I know are Patrik Berger and Jamie Redknapp. They're two good-looking handsome men and they've always got boss clothes on. They always look brown, always look cool.
I wouldn't say I was ugly, but I'm not handsome fella like Berger or Redknapp. But I wouldn't say I struggle to get a woman.
Jamie Carragher and Robbie Fowler used to absolutely cane me for having a long fringe. Now I've got it short I'm getting away with it."
While many of the Liverpool players are going internet nuts at the moment, the 21 year-old has his eye on more base pleasures should he ever go online.
"I'm not trying to set myself up on the internet. But when I do get around to it, I reckon it will be the porn I use most often," Gerrard told lads mag GQ
The reds star has been advised it's usually better to ignore what's written about him be it good or bad.
"Gerard Houllier's always got me in his office, telling me to keep my feet on the ground and not to read my own press," he says.
"Not achieving what I think I can acheive scares me."
