MatchFixing
« on: October 18, 2001, 01:06:16 am »
Now I may be being Cynical here, but did anyone else think that barthez's performance was slightly suspect??
Two mistakes in a game, ok the second one I could let off as a genuine mistake, but the one before that?? what was he doing, he made no attempt to do anyting but obstruct Brown. The same with the second one, although less obvious if it wasn't for him brown would have cleared it.
Another thing which made me suspicous was when he made these mistakes. 1-0 to 1-1 then 2-2 to 3-2.
I may be taking it too far, but it did strike me as odd.

Sorry to go on about Man Utd but I'm going to keep an eye on him. could be interesting.

I've said it before : I've had a soft spot for clowning goalkeepers capable of both genius and utter incompetence that leaves you wondering ... I loved Brucie, and I am deeply amused by Barthez.

But I'll leave it to tabloid journos to throw the allegations about, which of course they won't with Barthez. What astonishes me is that they are so, so similar ...

Deportivo look awesome.

They did indeed, I like Spanish teams.

Maybe I'm giving the frog too much credit, maybe he is just a clown.   ...let's all do a Barthez, let's all do a Barthez.

Dont know if Bartez is bent. I doubt it. Just eccentric I guess. He has a sort of feel about him which will prevent him being binned like Sander. I still hope he will be picked on 04.11.01 though!

More importantly about Deportivo though. If We had played them the result would be lower scoring and probably a draw in their current form. More boring for Mr.ITV digital but a vindication of the tactics of Le Boss.

Depor did indeed look awesome - they always seemed to have a man spare for the next ball which made a refreshing change to the way most teams play at the Theatre of Silence aint it.
Tristan and Valerron are quality players as is Sergio and pretty much the whole of the Galician team.
They played and passed the Mancs off the park and it was a joy to watch.
I dont think Barthez is bent though i hadnt previously thought about it before so maybe but as it was mentioned i doubt the press will touch on the idea, Taggart would ban every single one of them if they tried and with the amount of Manc arse-lickin the press do, I doubt theyd want that!

Can you imagine the consequences if it came to a head that football was rife with cheating and match fixing. Surely not the beautiful game say Fifa, whoever....Just turn a blind eye, sweep it under the carpet, keep it in the dark....cricket, racing yeah, football??...no way ::)...

Deportivo did look special, they kept the ball, always had a short ball on and didnt have to resort to punting it.

The 2 forward players were brilliant and took the piss out of Utd's back 4, but big thankyou to spaccy Bart, cheers.
