If we get in a group with Lille, AEK and Copenhagen I will dance a merry dance.

Of course if we get in a group with Bayern, Benfica and Galatasaraay I will cry.

You missed 0 in 10 chance of drawing two German sides.

Seriously though if we avoid the far-flung places in pots 3 and 4 I will be more than happy.

[ tt ] seems to be bigger than [ code ] and doesn't make it look quite so much like a quote.

Can't find a way to change the font size; more info here --> http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?action=help;page=post#bbcref

I would choose SP Lisbon or Benfica over AEK

also i watched a friendly between AEK and Benfica a few weeks ago and AEK won them easily... And they were playing full

the funny thing is that Benfica's coach was AEK's coach last year... And he took a couple of players from AEK with him ... Too bad AEK and Benfica wont be in the same group.. Id love to see those games

By way of messing the teams round the group by computer (1-4), and pairing them off by 1 v 4, 2 v 3 and so on and so forth, no club gets a say in that really.

Bert Kassies website gives ya the whole palarva!
Got it now..thanx...

Positions confirmed
Teams from Pot 1 will be provisionally placed in the first position
within their groups, teams from Pot 2 will provisionally take the
second spot in their sections, and so on. Once the draw procedure has
been completed, a computer draw will determine the final position of
the sides within their group. These positions within the group will
then determine the order of the home and away matches.

1 in 6 chance of drawing Roma

How do you work this out?  Is there not 8 teams in the second pot - with one English side we can't play.   Surely 8 - 1 = 7.

Or have I done something wrong?

If we get Lille and they decide to play their home games in the Stade de France it could turn out to be one of THE greatest Euro Aways with up to 30,000 tickets available and Paris so easily accessible to us.

It brings a smile to my face to see Chelsea in pot 2. A European pedigree comparable to Lille and Celtic  ;D

Or have I done something wrong?

I did it the other way round - there are 2 Italian Teams in our Pot who Roma cannot play. Therefore, more correctly, Roma have a 1 in 6 chance of drawing us. I believe this reverses as well since, if it's just us and Milan/Inter left in the pot we will definitely draw Roma.

It will get complicated, believe me... ;)

Draw procedure announced
Thursday, 24 August 2006

UEFA has confirmed the draw procedure for the group stage of the 2006/07 UEFA Champions League, which will take place from 18.00CET at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco today.

Coefficient ranking
The 32 teams will be placed in four pots in accordance with their UEFA coefficient ranking. Pot 1 will comprise last season's winners FC Barcelona and the top seven ranked clubs, Pot 2 the next eight and so on for Pots 3 and 4. The sides are therefore divided into eight groups of four. Each team will play three matches on Tuesday and three on Wednesday.

Pairings
Where two sides from the same association have qualified, they will be paired to split their matches between Tuesday and Wednesday, so one club will always play at home on one day and the other will play away on the other day. In the case of associations with three representatives, only two teams have been paired in terms of their fixtures; in the case of associations with four representatives, two pairings have been made. These pairings will be based on the TV audience and take account of the provisions of the competition regulations concerning stadiums.

(The sensible option is for us to be paired with the Mancs and Arsenal to be paired with Chelsea - expect us to be paired with Arsenal then...)

Colour codings
To ensure that sides from the same country play on separate days, the eight groups will be distinguished by colour: Groups A-D will be red and Groups E-H blue. When a paired club is drawn, for example, into one of the red groups, the other paired club – once it has been drawn – will automatically be assigned to one of the four blue groups. Teams from Pot 1 will be provisionally placed in the first position within their groups, teams from Pot 2 will provisionally take the second spot in their sections, and so on.

Final position
Russian clubs FC Spartak Moskva and PFC CSKA Moskva will be assigned positions one or three in their groups to allow them to play away on Matchday 6, which falls on 5/6 December. Once the draw procedure has been completed, a computer draw will determine the final position of the sides within their group. These positions within the group will then determine the order of the home and away matches.

It's annoying, I already know how it will turn out. We'll get a tricky group and the Manc's will get a piss easy one, it's always like that.

It would appear not - story from 14th May this year

Basically, the Stade de France is booked for "Ben Hur" - where are France going to play their matches then? ???
