The Future is bright. Is the future Orange?
« on: November 5, 2004, 08:49:35 pm »
Liverpool have signed a deal, according to the LFC mag, with Orange for on line mobile phone services. I am an Orange user so i am made up. Gives me more to look at when i am away from a proper PC.  I think it is a good move by both parties.

What i am thinking is (and feel free to shoot me down if this isnt true) but with Carlsberg's contract up soon, is this the first step towards our new shirt sponsor. United with Voda, Arsenal with O2, could we be going down the same route.

Just thinking it wouldnt be a bad move. The Orange logo would look a bit odd though. But much better than someone like Coca Cola.
Not only do i think pot should be legalized, it should be mandatory.......... That'd  be a nice world, wouldnt it? Mellow, hungry, quiet f*cked up people everywhere

It's a possibility - certainly there's a big deal to be made between now and the start of next season regarding sponsorship. Think we've had tie ups with Siemen and then 3G in the past on the mobile phone front.
If you're going to sign up on Betfair and fancy getting a free £25 on sign-up then use my refer code 749DCNQGK and I'll also get a £25 bonus ;)

The Coca Cola logo would look superb on our shade of shirt. Cant believe they are not throwing shed loads of money at us to buy the next deal.

Coca Cola don't really go in for individual team sponsorship in Europe unfortunately as it would be the pefrect match up - we could even have diet Coke on the white away shirts. It's all too perfect a tie up.

Certainly it's been rumoured/wished for by many over the last 10 years. The number of times I've heard a Coca Cola sponsorship was imminent is frightening - would have paid for a European trip or two at a quid a time.

Thats a good idea about the away shirts, but we'd have to go to a silver away shirt :(

I meant more for the pure americana that we'd have to suffer if we were another toy for them.  As others have said as well, they dont go for individual teams, and with their sponsorship of the  :puke Championship i cant see them doing a prem team as well.

Plsu they are like MdDonalds, more suited to the scum than a club with principles and standards.

It could be that the club has just signed up to an on line deal but not shirt sponsorship. These rumours about Carlsberg wanting out crop up from time to time but it never happens (although one day it will I suppose!).

to be honest I find Orange service to be worse thanour TO so wont be jumping through any hoops if they become our new shirt sponsors.
These are my own opinions. They are not meant or intended as a criticism of anyone else's opinion just because they are different but if you can't see past that, then tough shit!

Yeah. But the logo would be very much more aesthetic than the non negotiable orange square. Not too bothered about the global dominance coca cola has. Surely any sponsor is just out to increase their profits off the back of some high profile tv/media shots. With some Club related charitable offers/efforts thrown in of course.

orange have signed deals to be mobile service providers to several clubs, including liverpool and chelsea. So i don`t think it means anything significant in sponsorship terms, most clubs have mobile deals apparently and Utd and Arsenal were obviously sorted,so orange have gone for us and Chelsea.

Would Orange be able to compete at the same level as O2 and Voafone, in terms of sponsorship? As mentioned, might just be them opening up comercial avenues into football in general?

Next sponsor has to be Stella Artois if the club has any prentions of making it to the top again ;D

Coca Cola

- Home Shirt - Red - Regular
- Away Shirt - White - Diet
- Away Shirt 2 - Gold - Caffeine Free

What's next Anfield becoming Anfizz!

No thanks!
It looks to me as if we have signed another 'average' player. I'll hold back my complete opinion until I see the lad play

thought carlsberg had fairly recently done "another 5 years" ...no..??  I like carlsberg (possibly too much).

did you the program sellers had to block carlsberg & reebok off of Stevie's shirt on the kiosks the other night - not seen that one before (but pretty unobservant so probably happens at all the uefa home games).

still buy HITACHI when possible too!

Orange are sponsoring Chelsea from next season.

I also doubt they still sponsor Lens, as I'm pretty sure that Orange sponsor the whole League. Ie, they're the French Barclays.

if their sponsorship matched the size of the company then Coca Cola would be the ideal sponsor for both parties. We fit the profile they'd be looking for perfectly, their logo would suit the shirt and they'd conceivably sign one of the biggest sponsor deals in football history.

Really don't want an Orange Square. REALLY REALLY DON'T.

Hopefully, and I think I'm right in saying this, the club will not allow the sponsor colour to be dictated on home shirts  - its white. Simple as. On the away, they get free reign - look how a green Carlsberg ruined our last two away kits, and even the all green kits were Carlsberg-inspired or so I've heard. I hate Green on kits.

Anyone else know if the club would be willing to have a multi-coloured sponsor on the famous red? I'm thinking ntl, Carling (white on black strip), T-Mobile  - pink(!) box, pizza hut, etc etc. They all look shit. I love our red and it'd be ruined if we let some fucking sponsor put their corporate colours on it.

classy.

Joking aside.... I've been thinking about our shirt colour for about 3 months now. I think we need a change. Sacriligeous as it may sound, I really think we do.

The red is too weak nowadays, its strength has diminished. I wont go down 40 odd years of semiotic history but I think we need an ox-blood red. A darker, more bullish red.

Got one of the 60's shirts the club sell and the red of that is a darker red than me home shirt is. Certainly wouldn't be against that sorta red especially if it came with that style of kit and badge. No chance I know but would be quality.

I've got an 'old skool'  replica top (I don't buy anything with a logo on - sorry but I should be paid walking about with some other company on my chest with such a fabulous arse and face like I have)... but it's a very light red now after only a few washes... I digress, but ox blood red is where its at, especially now because of the Spanish contingent.

The sort of red we saw on Emlyn Hughes's back on a rainy night... deep, dark and menacing.

Very true, but then the logo was small and suited the overall look, not sure and big orange logo splashed across the chest is quite so good

If Orange are sponsoring Chelsea I wouldn't want them sponsoring us as well. Coca Cola would be a good sponsor but I doubt with them being the worlds biggest brand that they will sponsor us. I think our new sponsor will be a Thai music firm.
