Yeah Jam & Spoon were on R&S Records at one point, and if you went into the record shops i went in,there were only a few different categories.US House/Euro House/Ambient/Balearic/Jungle/Dance.Today youve got allsorts of shite categories ??? The type of stuff youre on aboot was in the Euro Dance section usually, which was the likes of R&S Records,Harthouse,Fresh Fruit,Eye Q etc

So true, used to get the "DJ" in the shop (in the basement in the shop in Halifax) to give it a quick spin to see if it was any good - fuck me i wasn't even a DJ but the labels were one thing I used to look at first such as R&S and Warp and particularly Harthouse.

Phew, what memories, can almost smell the dry ice!

I was more of an indie boy really, dad was in the army and with a lot of this period being spent in the Aldershot area I was lucky enough to see some amazing bands at the Buzz club (most notably Stone Roses just before they got big).

But for a while I went out with this RAMC surgeon's daughter who was obsessed with the newly emerging Acid / Rave scene and we ended up being regulars at a Sunday afternoon set in a place called Queens Reservoir near Slough. Big deal you may say, but the DJs included Andy Weatherall, Dean Thatcher & Phil Perry.

Such a bittersweet time, fell out of love with football - women & music took over

Although slightly later (91) this track has always held special memories (bit lightweight, I know!):

Looking back on the likes of this:

and another favourite:

You really did have to be on mind-altering drugs to enjoy them, so fucking repetitive!
