Our defending on set-pieces has gone to shit.

And it's compounded by our lack of composure.  For example, on the free-kick, Badiashile's chance is saved by Alisson.  The ball is tracked down by Chalobah, who's a defender and is going nowhere, but Gomez fouls him for no reason.  That leads to another dangerous free-kick that Havertz had a free header (just mistimed).

We're just not doing the basics.

I'm in your camp on personnel but that wasn't a good midfield performance - they're not really in control and the passing is sloppy as fuck

I don't know what people expect? Our front line has no link up play. Elliot isn't a wide left forward, Gakpo is trying too hard etc.

We look way more compact but ultimately there's a lot of nerves out there. You can tell both teams are afraid to lose.

Yeah but there's not been massive gaps, we've pressed a bit and we've got a foot in. Plus there's been some genuinely good movements of moving the ball through the middle of the pitch.

As someone else said, this looks like a mid-table clash. Replace both us and Chelsea with Villa and Crystal Palace and the quality of football would have been just about the same.
