And with Alonso out of the equation, who else could we have gone for? Amorim?... He'd be bringing in a totally different style of play with a new formation, and playing three at the back... Yeah, that went well when Souness took over from Dalglish, didn't it?

Alonso plays three at the back as well, you know.

I hope, on the lap of honour, he walks around with the PL Trophy, its the only untainted one that has been won since Leicester won it, so he deserves to parade it.

I hope all of the trophies are on the field at the end. Its kind of a way of celebrating his success and sneaking in a title party without being as blatant as taking it around.

If the last 14 years is anything to go by we’ll end up with a great tank, one of the very best but have about 8 of them, then lose a couple in testing and keep one aside for photo-ops for wannabe Tory leaders leaving us with about 5.

I wonder when he will make his first appearance in the away end? Maybe a CL game next season.

I think it’s still too early to be sure that the tide of opinion has turned among the wider football fanbase. Merson probably isn’t the most reliable yardstick. Will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

People will carry on being arseholes about Liverpool anyway. They’ve been doing that since long before the cheats started cheating.

As I said, I saw loads and loads of negative comments on a city puff piece the other day on the BBC, 115 charges constantly being mentioned, seems like it was only ADFC fans and bots that were defending them, so I'm hopeful. The London media will not be happy for one.

Feels very real now.

I’ve been ok with everything until the last couple of days and starting to read all the farewell pieces.

I’m on the verge of tears now just reading this thread. Love that pic with all the staff.

Danke, Jürgen. YNWA.

One year deals for Coleman, Young and Gueye. Absolutely potless.

Giving a soon to be 39 year old Ashley Young a one year deal says all you need to know about their summer recruitment

What makes you say that?

You were praising Thatcher, a few posts ago, and now attacking nationalised industries....

He’s attacking the mangers of nationalised industries, not industries themselves.

The directness of the Dutch might be an interesting angle to watch.

I suspect as the new relationship unfolds, he will learn to be a little more circumspect, and we will learn to adjust to a manager being a little more direct in public. I don’t think it will be a big deal, just one aspect of a new thing that will emerge.
