A few more:
Iron Maiden -  Run to the Hills
Clash - What's My Name?
Motley Crue - Dr. Feelgood
The title of this thread is a bit strange. How can you say which is your favourite riff without naming the time it comes from? Unless we were meant to write out the guitar tabs for the riff.
If you're lying, I'll chop your head off.

Go listen to anything by Jerry Garcia and you'll know why!

Back in Black - AC/DC
Kashmir - Led Zepelin
Drop Dead Legs - Van Halen
Walk - Pantera

Incidentally, the best solo has to be Angus Young on Ride On, man that's smoother than having a fluffy cat buffing you up with a mole washed in fabric softner as you slowly sink in to a pot of warm treacle!

Sweet Child O' Mine is the undisputed no.1, both the opening and mid song solo's are just phenomenol.
Cross town traffic, Back in Black and Seven Nation Army deserve honourable mentions as well.
They're out ta get me,
They won't catch me,
I'm fuckin innocent,
They won't break me.....No!

And Your Bird Can Sing by The Beatles. My favourite song by my favourite band. But not my favourite song ever! I am a trifle confusing! Goodnight!

ok, guys, need some help

I've been playing for the other guys on GCSE music lately, and I've used up my repitoire basically, so I'm looking for some cool tunes to learn that I can pull out and surprise. I'm looking for guitar tunes that they'll recognise (mostly rock fans), riffs, solos etc.

List I've got so far to learn is:

Top Gear Theme Tune
Red Dwarf Theme Tune
Top Gun Theme Tune
Pink Panther Theme Tune
Father Ted Theme Tune

Yeah, I found some cool TV tunes, I can hook you up with the tabs if you want.

Any suggestions then?

There are the obvious ones: The Ocean, Black Dog, The Girl I Love She Got Long Black Waivey Hair, or anything else by Led Zeppelin.

I love "Brand New Caddilac", the bassline is class!
"Train in Vain" and "Should I Stay or Should I Go" also have good riffs (I LOVE The Clash)

"Baba O'Riley" has got a great riff as well.
As does "Substitute" and "Young Man Blues"
Liverpool Fc is hard as hell,
United, Tottenham, Arsenal,
Watch my lips and I will spell
Cuz they don't just play but they can rap as well

Best Roses one is "I am the Resurrection" I reckon
The La's: There She Goes/Looking Glass/Timeless Melody
Best Mondays riff is from "Judge Fudge"
My favourite at the moment is Hank Williams Snr: "Ramlin' Man". The reason is that the song is a story about a bloke who is a compulsive wanderer, hopping aboard trains for free rides like you could in the days of the old cattle cars. The riff sounds just like a train chugging its way along the line, and it also sounds like the wanderlust beating in the singers heart. He can't help it but follow that riff, even if it means his own destruction (which in the case of Williams Snr, is exactly what happened):

I love to see the towns a-passin'by
And to ride these rails beneath god's blue sky
Let me travel this land from the mountains to the sea
'Cause that' the life I believe he meant for me
And when I'm gone and at my grave you stand
Just say God called home your ramblin'man.

That's the difference between a class songwriter and someone who's just sat in their bedroom practising the guitar for 15 years. If having technical virtuosity meant you also were also a virtuoso songwriter Stevie Vai et al would have had a 100 hit songs, and Keith Richards would now be selling real estate to make ends meet.

7 Nation Army - White stripes

Its really simple but i like it and is easily recognisable. But may be better off on a bass guitar

You surely can't leave out the brilliant theme to the snooker by Steve Cropper.  Excellent played in loads of styles from accoustic to heavy metal. :wave
