The club will never introduce safe standing in our beloved Kop and I'm saying this as an Ulster man.
Uncle first went in 1971 and passed the tradition to me - only time I go to Anfield now is if I can get a 304, 305 or 306 ticket or else I don't see much point because I can't shout, I can't sing, I can't support, I can't lead my fellow Reds and they can't lead me to march together and lead our team to triumph.
We can all say 'Oh the Bundesliga, isn't that lovely' but with Hillsborough and people refusing to believe that it was caused due to the incompetence of those bastards in South Yorkshire rather than standing and terracing - this isn't helped at times by the HFSG (who I have the utmost respect for as we all do) but when Margaret says she never wants to see standing in Anfield again - the club listens.
I don't know what the solution is or where the light at the end of the tunnel is guys, I just can't and it pains me saying that.
What I would give to live one day like my uncle did from 71 to 94 - beers before the game, queue on the door, pay, get in with your mates and roar our side on and fuck up the other side's mentality by utilising our cauldron of passion and noise. For one day, what I would give gents!
I've emailed SOS in the past asking them to discuss safe standing at AGMs and they've told me they won't do it because of Hillsborough - we can't go to Barclays in London and complain about ticket prices and then say we don't have solutions such as Germany.
Everyone bangs on about Germany - they have beer, they have cheap tickets, they have 51% majority supporter owned clubs but the safe standing gets neglected because it's 'not safe' in this country. Fed up with this H&S bullshit British mentality. I've been to Munich in 2012 and let me tell you - walking into the Ultras end and standing there with a beer and my mates - nothing beats that. This club, along with the majority of other British clubs needs safe standing for the good of the game and the younger supporters (I myself being 23). Talk of Celtic getting it introduced by the beginning of next season (I imagine their Green Brigade would contribute to this) but the club talk with this group on a regular basis. Look at yesterday with Spion Kop 1906 and SOS, you think Ian Ayre & 'Mr Henry' are going to go out of their way to talk to these fellas who fucking love the club like we all do - not a fucking chance.
How is the next generation going to learn about our famous noise and our famous Kop when all we get told is to sit down and be quiet. Game is fucked guys!
