My vote for favourite opening few bars to songs are Henrix's 'All Along the Watchtower' and Nirvana's 'Come As You Are'

Is the bit that was always used for the Grand Prix theme at the start of the track or only part way through. I think it was Fleetwood Mac, I've also a feeling it doesn't start the track so I'm spouting chuff, but it should and it would then deserve a place in this thread. Dum, dum dum dumm dummedy dumm, la la la .
"All the lads have been talking about is walking out in front of the Kop, with 40,000 singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone'," Collins told BBC Radio Solent. "All the money in the world couldn't buy that feeling," he added.

muse- hysteria is a great shout. i like the intro to knights of cydonia too- sounds amazing live.

i'd add arcade fire- power out, arctic monkeys- view from the afternoon, beatles- helter skelter, take me out- franz ferdinand, or a bit of strokes with the modern age.

but numero uno has to be welcome to the jungle- GnR, or i wanna be adored.

That's 'The Chain' from the album 'Rumours'.

Although, that bit isn't the intro... ;D

It's not a rock song, but my favourite intro ever is Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing) by Benny Goodman.  Gotta love them drums and that brass, baby.

Honky Tonk women - Stones
Pinball wizard - The Who
When the levee breaks - Led Zeppelin

May be sacrilege to say this but the best version, and best intro, I've heard of Honky Tonk Women was done by Steve Marriott and Humble Pie, as a tribute to the Stones.

And another great Zeppelin intro - Misty Mountain Hop.
