I've typed this 100 times and still can't say what I am wanting to. So many thoughts are going through my mind, as you can imagine, it is a confusing time.
I am Cherith's youngest Brother, David. My friend Richard (Irish Red) forwarded me this link whenever he had heard what had happened. I knew she was friendly around Anfield, but I never realised she was this well thought of.
Some of the comments on this Board have been so helpful at this time of sorrow, I know I don't speak for myself when I thank you all for your lovely words and sentiments. It really has helped every single one of us.
The poem posted by Nige stands out and with permission, I would love for it to be read at the funeral.
We first met her outside the Park,
She wore red liverbird, red flame
Singing “Don’t be afraid of the dark”
As red leaves fell gently in the rain
How could we know she would not tarry
and we would lose her lovely ways ?
her light has gone & would it could brighten
Our futures, as it brightened many days.
So she’s going back to Belfast city
where the trees now stand tall and bare
For she has fallen into the arms of forever
Remembering the poetry in her red-brown hair.
I wish we were with you in your home town,
As you shared ours, spreading love and pride
We would swim over the deepest ocean
Only to have you right by our side.
Do not rest until you’ve seized the day
Try to spread some joy along the way
For life is just a travelling circus
That stops off when it rains.
Life is just one great big travelling circus,
that stops off when it rains
Just one piece I disagree with -
"I wish we were with you in your home town,
As you shared ours, spreading love and pride"
All you folks there who are in Liverpool are with her in her home town.
Hopefully my Parents get over soon to be with their daughter before bringing her back to Northern Ireland to rest. It's comforting to know that many have been to see her, I can't wait to have that chance again.S
My thoughts are with Lee, Becky and Jordan at this moment too. Anyone who has ever met the three will know what a loving, loyal family they are. I'm as gutted for those who saw Cherith every day and will have that taken away from them, just as much as I am for my Mother, Father and Brother.
Should anyone there have pictures of Cherith, I would love to see them. I had one on an old Computer of Cherith holding the UEFA Cup aloft in work and unfortunately this was lost after a virus destroyed the hard-drive. Should anyone have any pictures of Cherith on their computer, I would be grateful if you could email them to me.
