I've no idea what Riise did to get a 4. I thought Yossi was good, but man of the match with a 9... can't agree.

each to our own though.

Take no notice of him mate, this is coming from the same bloke who posted this yesterday:
"Torres should keep his mouth shut and let his feet do the talking or he'll be following Benitez onto the LFC
career tightrope. "  ::)
It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

Riise - 4 - fuck me, he visibly worsens in front of your very eyes, he's gone beyond alehouse into some new type of establishment, like a crack den or sumpn. I'll bet anyone on this forum a grand that if you ask Riise what 'composure' means he'll say it's when you can't go for a shite. Fucking get rid of him Rafa.

One moment in the match where Riise found himself on the right and was defending against a right footed player who was looking to get a cross in and when he turned on Riise's right Riise basically fell over himself, he honestly expected the guy to go on his left!?!?!?!?!

I'm really starting to loath him :(

Babel - there's a player playing for us who REALLY COULD be the most feared attacking player in Europe. It isn't Torres. It's this lad. Someone tell me that you watch this lad's feet and balance and don't see a quicker version of Zidane. If he played up front with Torres come the weekend we might just see the Manc shite off in good style. He won't though will he, he'll be on the bench...

In fairness Babel is still finding his feet at the club and he needs time and confidence and the Man Utd game is not the type of game where you can throw him in the deep end of the pool. He'll probably come on as a sub and hopefully add more salt in the wound ;D

Like Lucas I have full confidence that Babel will become a world class player given enough time to settle and play.

All the lads were obviously brilliant, but special mention to Yossi for me, never stopped working his bollocks off all game, and considering he's supposed to be a flair player this is fantastic to see.

Heard on ESPN that Gillett was at the match (some business in Europe so he thought he should pop along!).
When Rafa was asked about Gillett being there and what he read into it his reply was "Gillett?? I don't think he is available to play tonight!".
Classic. ;D
Remember your history:
In 1977 Bob Paisley needed to replace Kevin Keegan and paid £440,000 to bring Dalglish to Liverpool, a British record at the time.
His years at Liverpool marked one of the club's most prolific periods: he won seven league titles, three European Cups and five domestic cups.

A lid on what?

Any mention of the dispute whatsoever and dodging all questions. After the first few days of the whole saga Rafa has said nothing. Gillete has said fuck all and cancelled his interview with Talkshite. Hicks has pretty much said nothing. Parry nothing. Foster barely even getting a mention by the rags.

I suppose it would've been nice to see Gerrard and Carra publically BACKING the manager but it wouldn't surprise me if someone has had a word in the ears of Stevie and Carra to dodge questions.
It's wonderful, it's marvellous, it's 3-3

I was actually a little disappointed because stevie was asked by gabriel clarke about Rafa, and he could have just said "Rafas the only one for us" or words to that effect. You know how the media hang on his every word. Could have been beneficial

That seemed like a pre-planned answer, as Jamie said exactly the same thing when he was interviewed

Can't understand where we 'flattered to deceive' either, Marseille looked shit because we locked them down and made them look like shit. Settle down and enjoy the win.

Exactly. Kuyt, Kewell, Yossi and Gerrard worked back and harried their midfield as well as I've seen us do in a long while. They simply had no time on the ball and were made to look poor. Just as we were by a certain someone's Valencia side a couple of years back.

- Yossi has a fantastic work rate. I love to see him tackling when he's so tiny himself. Thought Kewell also did very well to help out down the left. Kewell MOTM for me but everyone was excellent. Even Riise, as much as I have criticized him, was very good defensively and his experience shone through.

Real Madrid and Inter Milan want to sign him.
Even this fuc.... Wenger wants him ...

But i don't think you need a Nasri in this team ...

Battered them silly. Torres just gets better and better and Kewell once again put in a fine performance.

Shame Porto won cos it means we're up against the big guns in the knock outs.

A job well done! ;D (but we sure like to do things the hard way  :P)

Proud of all the lads for stepping it up tonight :).  Relieved that Masch is doing all right, had me worried there when they stretchered him off, especially with the upcoming match against the mancs.  Harry was looking sharp tonight as well.

Clinical finishing tonight. Not a single player did poorly tonight, but Kuyt has to get a special mention. I thought he was fantastic and took his goal brilliantly.

Torres' goal is the sort of goal you will hear people talk about in years to come - "then he walked around two players as though they weren't there and passed it right into the corner." He's the best striker in the world - and I don't think I'm exaggerating anymore. He can do everything brilliantly.

I was delighted for Babel as well. These goals will give him plenty of confidence. I think the teams in Pot 1 we could face would be dreading facing us. Remember our record in 04-05 and 06-07 - we've knocked out Leverkusen, Juventus, Chelsea twice, Barcelona, PSV and Milan. They'll consider us the team to avoid from pot 2. I think we'd beat anyone on current form.

Fantastic performance tonight. I think we'll hammer United at the weekend as well.
They don't care about Rafa,
They don't care about the fans,
Liverpool Football Club is in the wrong hands.

I guess there will be a massed scramble for tickets when the next juicy tie is announced.  After a lot of fans chose to leave the Beşiktaş game well alone thinking we were already out.  If the Porto game was anything to go by, it'll be nice and easy to get the tickets.

Top scorers in the group stages, lost first match in the league at the weekend and are 7 points off top with a game in hand. On top of they they're (we) playing well and set up well.

superb result, thankfully Rafa will be out of the limelight a bit after that, but flattered to deceive against a nothing side

if we play like that against United we will get dicked by the same score

and no, I am NOT kidding

scores on the doors, 7 being the start point bearing in mind the result :

Reina - 7.5 - what little he had to do did it well

Arbeloa - 7 - will probably never play against an easier opponent than Zenden for the rest of his career, mind

Carragher - 7.5

Hyypia - 7 - but looked terribly cumbersome at times and against United he would have got ripped a new one

Benayoun - 9 - my MOTM - fucking worked his arse off all night and if anyone should have been taken off with 20 to go and saved for United it's him, not Kewell, not Torres and not Kuyt. One minute he was in the opposition third trying to link in and the next he was back making a crucial interception. He's gonna challenge Torres for my POTY if he carries on like this, and he will

Mascherano - 6.5 - anonymous. I can only imagine how much of a new arse we would have ripped Marseille if Alonso had played tonight.

Gerrard - 9 - high scores for the initial thrust and goal and nice disciplined performance but made a few unnecessary errors.

Kewell - 7 - one piece of vintage Kewell to lay in Torres but apart from that he still looks WAY off being fit or quick enough to play for us. It's not when he's on the ball, nobody can deny his quality on it, but it's off the ball.

Kuyt - 8.5 - usual mixed bag from Kuyt, including his trademark appalling first touch nearly getting Gerrard hospitalised within 2 seconds of kick off. Made up for it with a neat finish for the third and worked hard of course.

Torres - 7 - one moment of sheer brilliance for the goal but a lot of sloppy play after that. One moment where he entered the box on the right in the second half before hitting a lazy cross into the full back pissed me right off. Toughen up in the tackle ffs lad, you're built like a brick shithouse and you go to ground like Heskey did. You COULD be THE NUMBER 1 most feared striker in Europe if you concentrate and play for 90 (that's NINETY) minutes and cut out the sloppy shit. Are you reading this, eh ? EH ? No, of course you're not, it's past yer bedtime. Sweet dreams.

subs :

Fabio Aurelio - contributed the sum total of his initials. Ta. Still, at least you didn't get injured eh.

Strange post mate, you're wrong about Riise tonight

Its not so far from Spanish... but he threw a few English words in like so, just and but! Lippi was very complimentary about the team, shape, Torres, Gerrard, Hyypia and Rafa.

I always get the impression that Italian managers and pundits give us more credit and understand the team and Rafa better than almost all their counterparts in England.

Andy Townsand, Steve Rider, Jamie Rednapp, Ray Wilkinson and Richard Keys taught me  tonight was that Rafa is clueless manger for leaving Torres on the bench against the 8-0 Beşiktaş and 4-0 Toulouse games.

If I was Gerrard I would have a word with Jamie over some of comments and tell him to button it, the shit about Rafa by the Ex-Red and Sky's Gorilla creature Keys wanting to be "The Man" was appalling.
