Well this is shit rather than annoying!!

The eldest granddaughter has had a quite serious injury playing football on Sunday when she's gone in for a tackle but the contact impact has ripped her thigh muscle off her pelvis 😳😕

Ouch. That must have been painful!

when I was a teen, my mate had to have his spleen removed after an attempted overhead kick during a kickabout after school.

Bloody hell, sounds painful - little miss Gerrard there.

Hope she makes a full and speedy recovery.

Thanks for the well wishes folks 👍

Yeah the spleen is always vulnerable to those types of landings.

Bloody hell, sounds painful - little miss Gerrard there.

She's tough as old boots Rob.  Did the injury at 15mins into the game and played the full 90 😳

Was only when she'd stopped playing they realised how bad it was.  Her mum's having to dress her again which is not good at 14 😂

She didnt go did she Debs?

Hope she has a speedy recovery  :wave

I've not heard anything yet mate but I'm assuming not.

The many people on this forum who consistently spell the surname of Harvey Elliott as Elliot....you wouldn't spell Salah as Sala, or Mac Allister as McAllister, or Van Dijk as Van Dyke.
It annoys me as much as lose being written as loose.

Ordered a McDelivery including a Deluxe Double Quarter Pounder (I was hungover), coming to £14.66. Turned up with everything except the actual burger. Rang Uber Eats and they processed my refund, which was a £2.91 flat fee. I rang back but that was their (obviously scripted) response, flat fee, so nothing close to the item that I didn't receive.

Walked past the restaurant in question a few hours later and nipped in, manager refunded me there and then.

Shut Uber down, abysmal company.

Can remember a decade ordering a Chicken Escalope in a white bap in a cafe one dinner time. I opened the bag when I got back to the office and had salad in a white bap but no Escalope. Took me about an hour to calm down before I went back  ;D

The exact same thing happened to me about ten year ago too. Must be some chicken escalope racket  going on! Had a toasted focaccia (been in London too long) with a bit of lettuce and mozerella. Absolutely fuming. :lmao

We had a big Indian takeaway for 7 people and nothing more annoying than eating the poppadoms and starters before discovering one of the meals is missing. Normally it’s mine, but not this time- too far away to go back and sort it out, had to share the food between us which was ok anyway as there is always too much!

Yeah that also happens to me! Whichever type of takeaway we order, if there’s an item missing it’s almost certainly mine

In the interview. Firing out the questions in between taking massive chunks and out of your ham, cheese and pickle baguette. Remember to chew with your mouth open.

Would be like my first job interview. Hiring manager had his feet up on the desk, firing elastic bands around the room while chatting and spent more time talking about football and his sons Halo game than the actual job or asking me anything.

I got it, and I hated it. He has had about 3 promotions since.

The sheer weight of AI porn and third world blueticks desperately trying to get ad revenue overwhelming Twitter.

Edit: that was a very inelegant way of putting it. The incentive structure for eyeball revenue encourages those outside the rich world to throw content into the void. You can't blame those people for it but there's got to be a way of stemming the tide. The AI porn can fuck off.

How difficult the job market is right now. Glad I have a job otherwise I'd be under some serious stress. Noticed that companies don't even invite for interviews anymore, they ring first to have a chat where they'll make their mind up. I guess the best liars will be called in for interview.

Wow mate. Really difficult.  Especially in the IT market.  I got made redundant early March with 25 years of IT, Telecomms, and Project management experience behind me.

I totally underestimated things and thought I would waltz into a new perm role or contract.  Alas, no.

However, I have noticed over the last week or so, there are more positions becoming available.  Numerous internal and external recruiters have also confirmed the market is picking up slightly, which is good news.  Something to do with April budgets,

I totally agree with your very last point too.  Getting past the gatekeepers is a job in itself.  Then you have to face those competency questions which are the fucking bane of my life. It's an absolute crock of shite.  Where on earth has all that shite come from.  Next interview I'm lying like fuck. If you can't beat em...join em.

I also work in the same sector as you, although nowhere near as much experience. It's a minefield out there at the moment, too many people applying for one job.

As for interviews, truth doesn't prevail in them. They'd rather hire someone with the gift of the gab who tells bullshit stories that never happened, rather than someone who is honest and speaks from the heart. The strangest advice I ever got was that if I'm ever stuck on a competency question where they ask for an example of a situation and I don't have one, make something up.

need to be careful - if you name the company you were at when it happened, and they call for a reference, make sure the person who's giving it backs you up.

I'm guessing here, but getting a lot of interviews, even for positions you aren't interested in would be worthwhile. You get to hear the kind of situations they'll throw at you so you can prepare for next time (chances are as you are in hte lift on the way out , you think, hell yeah I did that when...). And you can practice making shite up for the few you can't bring that are relevant.   Sometimes it might be from outside a work setting.

I'm sure chatgpt , the internet is awash with typical situation questions.  Being able to judge the person/peoples asking the questions quickly helps  . If you can build rapport with them and answer in an engaging way, they'll probably not actually listen to your reply.  Think how Bojo / Trump got their jobs....

--edit-- which reminds me, I always intended to do one interview a year. Partly to see what's out there, partly to keep on top of what skills are in demand. And all of the above.  I'm not in PM though, more of a general all round developer, trying to specialise in Excel, but having to do SQL and basic 'web' front ends...

-edit 2 -- a good recruitment agent is worth finding too. They'll know the kinds of questions and will know the exact questions from previous candidates with a specific role.

--edit 3-- and sometimes you interview for one position,  but another comes up and they've done the groundwork already. Just don't apply to be PM for BMD.
